Will it take a Mass Killing for the world to wake up and stop what's going on in Israel/Palestine? |
India 1516 demonstrators were killed or wounded in India. The general said that he wanted to give the Indians a lesson that would have an impact throughout all of India. The English people and government reputiated this terrible action and the attitude that prompted it. The world then took notice.
South Africa 1970s Over 3 million people forcibly resettled in black ‘homelands’. 1976 Over 600 killed in clashes between black protesters and security forces in Soweto. This and many other actions made the world take notice. Additional Details Does the world never learn from past mistakes? |

It is so sad, for all parties concerned, and so very wrong... War is evil, death is ugly, how are we supposed to stop it?

dude, i'd love to see any palestinian peace march. the problem is they don't have peace marches, they have hate marches. they dress small children up as suicide bombers and march through the streets screaming death to israel and death to america. you're right, they DO need a gandhi, someone to lead them into nonviolence.
although they'd find that the day they give up violence is the day they will have peace, and their own state. that's always been true. |

Israel exist on wars and killing of both Israeli and Palestinian people. The meaning of Israeli security is to keep war a live. Security vs peace is what Israel all about. |

Hopeless,
If the killings of Palestinians that the Israelis claim are "justified" should stop, Israel can no longer play its "victim card" and be the recipient of MY tax dollars (as a U.S. citizen) to the tune of five billion per year.
Israel is dependent on this welfare that is so unfortunately funded by my government (hanging my head in shame) and so will continue to provoke the Palestinians any way they can into fighting back.
Happily, the American people are waking up to this travesty and demanding answers. |

I hope not I don't want to see anymore Israelis killed
I think they should accept the peace already
the world has given them 7 billion$ yesterday + what the US is giving + what the arab countries are giving - so much billions + land - I think they can accept peace allready - I don't know why Israel has to suffer all the time and being attacked even here in this section.
hopeless you just shocked me? you have no idea what the situation is.. all the civilians marching - they don't want peace there don't you understand - listen to hamas - I wish people there could spell peace because the only thing coming from gaza is hate and bombs and rockets - I think you should get to know the situation better and the people you defend better - after you do I don't think you'll defend them so much
edit: I thought about it before I wrote only Israeli(it was to begin with israelis and palestinians but after I saw u wrote a provoking question only to describe palestinians get killed I wanted to emphasize that Israel is the one being attacked by the palestinians and that I don't think Israelis should be mass murdered just for the world to intervene..
so I guess it's ok(i'm rethorical) for you to say mass murders on palestinians but when I say about Israelis it's wrong. tell me why so? but still I want an answer why your question only describes palestinians.
I think you are biased against Israel that you don't even see what the palestinians are doing -
I guess you can say the same about me - wrong - because I don't stand for everything the IDF does (most though but not all) and because I don't believe everything that ppl tell me I get to most of the sides and I know the propaganda that the muslim children are taught from an early age in gaza (with Israel as little satan and the US as big satan and about being a shahid and about killing themselves for their religion, and I know that in Israel no1 tells you what to believe and you can be secular religious or whatever you want)
EDIT:
You are right hopeless and I agree with you that we should do something for the peace - besides what the governmenet is doing - we should try to arange meetings as some organizations do so the two people can talk to each and understand but the situation is not how you seem to think it is,
the army doesn't attack on purpose innocent civilians as the hamas does. and I can't agree with you saying that a mass murder will solve anything with a peaceful country as Israel is.
the only way to stop anything is through agreements - which Israel has with Jordan with Egypt and treaties with almost every country in the world - the countries who don't want to talk with Israel are the countries who'm Israel can't achieve peace with -(hence gaza) the west bank is continuing the peace process as agreed by both sides and Israel will soon have peace with them therefore the only problem left with the palestinians is gaza.
I know you want peace so much just as I do.
and that more death won't solve it.
I think you are a great and loving person for protecting the palestinians and I really adore you as the kind person you are and think highly of your questions and I hope you have good intentions also for Israel.
btw I would say that if Israelis march into gaza/west bank for peace they'd be hurt/killed and if the palestinians would do it they'd be welcomed by Israel to the table of negotiation(that's how I see the situation today and if you disagree you can tell me here or by mail, thanks )
how do we march through the check points?
lawyfully - you have to get approved to enter Israel from a foriegn country(because the west bank is area C - which is controlled by the palestinian authorities - this affirmation can be obtained by contacting the "minhal haezrachi" in Israel if you are a simple civilian but if you are a gigantic group you can send a request to the government and they will lower down a command to let the enourmas group pass.. but don't you prefer contacting abu mazens office and let him just call the pm of Israel and they can arrange it.. if you are talking about the palestinians in gaza - I don't know if they have a leader there who will be willing to listen to you and recognize israel or talk with it, I think you could only contact the minhal haezrachi or adress the government yourself because no1 in Gaza seems to want peace... :(
physically speaking -
if your in gaza - then you have gates which open and close and people go through after being checked by scanners
if your in the west bank by car or foot go through check points into israel
I think peace now have arranged lot's of marches and demonstrations calling for peace- so I guess this has to be done officialy because some demonstrations won't hole the peace as some written papers will do better
yes i agree we need a new question.
edit: :) we should stay optimisitic - the peace process will bring the peace to the palestinians and maybe one day arabs/muslims world will accept the jews/Israel as well.. I have to stay optimistic of this.. if not the other option is not one the world needs. |

In order to get Condi to revoke her order that Israel may not conduct a ground war in Gaza, it may be necessary that (God Forbid) there be a large number of Israelis killed by the Islamic terrorists.
Otherwise, Israel is being held back by the American State Department from protecting its citizens.

It is so difficult to change the dynamics at work in the Occupied Territories. I believe that there needs to be a grassroots peace movement there which would organize mass. peaceful protests and other creative forms of protest. I do believe there are several obstacles to this, however.
One is the militant groups. I would not put it past them to intimidate and even kill people who tried to do this. Two, the people themselves are so entrenched in the mindset that the only way to solve this problem is through violence. Three, the Israeli Army would most probably restrict movement so as to prevent mass protests.
However, we should realize that at this point at least, Israeli Army action is mostly defensive in nature. True, there are many daily injustices and even deaths, but as I understand the situation, they are not deliberately looking for innocent civilians to kill. Generally, it is more a matter of indifference to the value of their lives when carrying out various policies which leads to their deaths. I am in no way justifying that, but there is an important distinction to be made.
Support for the Palestinian cause will increase if the attacks on Israeli civilians cease. At this point, it is hard for governments and individuals worldwide to support a cause which is intimately associated with shooting missiles indiscriminately at Israeli cities and towns and blowing up buses and pizza parlors. The irony of this, from the militants' point of view, is that if they don't keep this kind of pressure on Israel, it will continue to take more land in the West Bank and to ride roughshod over the rights of the people.
Perhaps an international force, like Gamla Joe said, could help allay these concerns and give the militants no excuse to keep attacking. People do tend to forget that land confiscation is a form of violence, for those affected are being severely injured. When that ceases, and Palestinians are not collectively punished in other ways, I think the support for militancy will diminish greatly.
It was along struggle for freedom in the countries that you mentioned. Despite violence on both sides of those conflicts, it was eventually the change toward non-violence which garnered world support and pressured those regimes to change. As it is, the Palestinians have lost much needed support due to the actions of a relatively small group of militants. |

Probably yes. That's because in order for such a mass-killing to happen, the situation in Israel would need to be similar to those in the examples that you provide - something that is simply not the case. There's a reason that no such mass killing has occured in the decades of Israeli control of these territories, and that's because your depiction of the situation is simply inaccurate. Either way, the world has already taken notice, as both the amount of international aid and international intervention suggest. The reason that none of this notice has accomplished anything is because Palestinians continue to be their own worst enemies and continually shoot themselves in the foot. The election of Hamas effectively turned what was a step towards peace (the withdrawal from Gaza) into a misplaced step that only exaccerbated the issue. The ball has been in the Palestinians' court for a long time, and at this point its really up to them to prove themselves. |

Possibly. It took the Holocaust for the world to open its eyes to what Germany was doing to the Jews.
Most of the terrorism that occurs in Israel and the disputed terroritories is either misreported or never reported.
The suicide murderers, the destruction of Israelis' lives, and the destruction of Israel land is not well-known at all.
By the way, there is no and never has been a nation called Palestine. The Arabs were offered the chance, in 1947, to have a country of their very own! However, they rejected it.
Then they rejected the chance again.
And, once again, they rejected the chance. Prince Bandar told Arafat that it would be a "crime" if Arafat did not accept the incredibly generous peace offer from Israel.
But, of course, Arafat hated the Jews more than he wanted to make history by helping create the first nation of Palestine.
Tragic. |

Arabs have been mass murdering Jews and Israelis for generations.
1516 killed in India, population of India 1,117,719,600
population of Israel 6 mill (Jews and Muslims)
simple math says that when 30 Israelis are killed by a car bomb in % it's much higher
Don't worry Israel will not mass kill, Arabs are not stupid enough to do so either |

what do you call the palestinians dying everyday because of israel ?
they will only care if it's mass killing in israel. mass killing in palestine is already happening, no one cares. they're not humans they're all devils (people who don't care about palestinians dying) palestinians are humans too, zionists need to understand this. |

Mass killing in Palestine DID happen in the 1950's when the Israeli gov't committed hundreds of massacres against the Palestinians like Dier Yassen Massacre when 120 Arabs were killed.
It's still happening on daily basis but does the world care if 120 Arabs die? noooooo, but if 1 Jew died then the WHOLE world condemns... |
