Israel never rejected the two state solution,The palestinian leadership are happy with the status quo and have no interest in whats best for their people.
A one state solution would be disastrous palestinians would loot and destroy, vote in religious fundamentalists if Jews tried to keep their once first world nation from becoming a third world backwater screams of apartheid and international condemnation.
palestinians are jordanians, egyptians, lebanese and syrian, Israel's tiny and its jewish |

Israel has already agreed to a 2 state solution many times.
Arabs have never agreed to it and they have no right to ask for it after rejecting it in the first place.
The pros of a one state solution where Jews and Muslims live together will be victory for the Arabs and the Cons would be a 2nd Holocaust for the Jews.
One state for both is not a solution, it's suicidal.
People tend to forget what the 2 state solution was for in the first place, it was a solution to SOMETHING.
Right now there is One state for Jews, that's the solution after the 2 state solution was rejected by the Muslims.
We will give them a state when they acknowledge our right to exist. |

Israel is NOT a part of the Arab world, which is why the Arab world detests it. Israel is an INDEPENDENT state with Western democratic ideals. The ONLY ones advocating a single state WITH AN ARAB MAJORITY are the Arabs, and WHICH IS ARAB COLONIZATION! How else did Islam become so widespread from Saudi Arabia into Africa, Turkey, and East Asia. If it weren't for Israel, the Arab World would already be on its way into Europe via the Eastern Mediterranean...neither Israel nor Europe wish to be part of the Arab World! |

We get further away from a two state solution everyday that Hamas gets stronger.
One state will not work period.
Why anyone believes that a one state solution would lead to a democracy is beyond me. Show me where the Arabs have done it before. |

it will never work. The idea of a one statesolution is not new; it was first proposed by prominent Jews such as Judah Magnes in the 1920s. As is the case today, however, the suggestion enjoyed no popular support.
The utopian view of the advocates of binationalism was that the Jews and Arabs both had legitimate claims to the land and should live in peace together in one state. This idea negated the Jewish right to its historic homeland and also assumed the Arabs were prepared to coexist peacefully with the Jews within the same state. This was proven wrong through two decades of violence by Arabs against Jews in Palestine, and by the Arab rejection of the British White Paper of 1939, which offered them just such an arrangement.
As early as 1937, it had become clear that the two peoples could not live together and needed to have states of their own. As a result, the Peel Commission proposed a partition in that year and the UN approved the same approach a decade later. Nothing has changed since that time to suggest any other solution can end the conflict.
Since Palestinian Arabs already constitute almost 45 percent of the population living between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River, and their birth rate is double that of Israeli Jews, they would soon become the majority of the population in a binational state. The Jewish character of the nation would then erode and disappear, and Israeli Jews would lose political control over the one safe haven for Jews.
Given the historical mistreatment of minorities, especially Jews, in Arab lands, this idea would be a recipe for the persecution of Jews (and Christians). One proponent of the idea of a binational state suggested that an international force would protect the Jews, but no leader would entrust the fate of the Jewish people to such an unreliable guarantor. More important, if advocates of binationalism acknowledge that Jews would need protection in such a state, what is the basis for believing this is a solution to the conflict?

Most former British colonies ended up with one state solution. Remember most British colonies experienced some kind of civil wars before any solution.
British created most of the conflicts and civil wars in the world. |

It won't work because the Palestinians would end up the majority.

A one-state solution is no longer possible. There is too much hate involved. The violence would actually escalate. The only viable solution is the two-state solution. |

Well, the cons are the West Bank, Golan Heights, and Gaza Strip will be called Israel and the Palestinians will still fight against Israel with assistance from Iran for all of eternity. Pros, I'm aware of none of those. |

No. The Jews and the Arabs are too different, and have such a bloody history, that a single state could never exist. Whatever solution is finally reached, it will have to be built on a division between a self-ruling colective of jews and the same of arabs. Of course, it's possible that each side will include a minority of the other side. |

The one state solution is not viable and is not an option. It would mean the destruction of Israel, which is why no Israeli government will ever permit it.
Dating back to 1917 and the Balfour Declaration, and all British mandate decisions that ensued, a solution to the national aspirations of the (very few) Arab inhabitants of what was formerly a backwater of the Ottoman empire was taken into account. This was finalized by the ratification of UN General Assembly resolution 181 which divided the land west of the Jordan River into two states - one for the Jews and one for the local Arabs, whose number had increased dramatically since 1917 due to increased prosperity in the region brought about by the Jewish settlers. While the Jews accepted the UN partition plan, the Arabs, as we all know, did not. (These are the people who never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity, after all). Five Arab armies with significantly greater strength and manpower attacked, and fortunately for the world, Israel won, as it has in other instances. Which is why, after suffering multiple defeat, the so-called Palestinians are trying to get back to square 1. Will they succeed? Only time will tell. Probably not (see above).
So no, the one state solution is not viable.
I thought this was a travel forum. Why is it that so many people with so little knowledge have to come by and prove how little they know of the Arab-Israeli conflict? |

I agree with zeno,a normal multicultural democracy,no more of this ethnic state junk. |

Yes. The pros of a one-state solution is a normative democracy that operates without prejudice based on faith or ethnicity, and peace and prosperity. The cons consist only of the death of the "zionist dream" of a ultra-militaristic warrior state with a ethnocratic political structure. The con is no more cycle of violence, meaning less publicity meaning less opportunity for jews to hold center stage in the world media and pose as a major player in world affairs. I think the pros outweigh the cons - depending on your value system. personally,i find the concept of the ethnic state abhorrent, what to speak of extreme nationalism and hyper militarism. |

So you think you can dance too?

The terms for 2 states solution offered by Israel are no more than a joke.
They want it as an open air prison state for the Palestinians like they did in Gaza. They want to keep the whole of Jerusalem. They deny the rights of the Palestinians - who had to escape the Israeli paradise - to return back to their homeland.
I agree with you that the one state solution is the best solution for both parties. |

Bravo Sierra

As mentioned in other answers this 2 states solution was offered by Zionists in way to be impossible to be accepted, so Yes the inevitable will happen and Palestine will return back to its aboriginal population. |
