a LOT of afrikans songs arent the best!
The way they hijack house beats and sing about the lamest things; they still use the accordion for cryin out loud!!

I heard Fokofpoliciecar on 5fm the other day and THAT was a cool africaans tune! Restored my faith in afrikaans lyrics.

MJ I cant say I have not heard Afrikaans songs for so long I think I'm a bit rusty,but I promise when I go to South Africa this November I will listen,my late brother gave me a DVD of the Campbells and I really enjoyed it,every time I feel home sick I play it on my PC and think of all those times we used to go to Hartbeesport Dam and thats lekker.

Im Afrikaans but when they play Afrikaans songs on the radio I just cringe!!
Older singers like Rina Hugo and that crowd is like any other country singers in other countries. Like you have spanish people singing in spanish and you will never hear them outside their own country for example and that is fine.
It's for a certain market and thats it.
BUT you get a new crowd singing REALLY COMMON Afrikaans songs and it's being marketed mainstream!
Why don't I ever hear english songs rhyming, DUH, so that they sound common!
Ek en my meisie, bly in 'n huisie...

First of all I love Beautiful in Suidwes . I dislike 'Gee haar a roos', anything by Cora Mare and anything by cannot remember his name but he used to give roses to the old ladies. Loads of Afrikaans songs i love . Things i thought i would never listen to has got a new meaning since we have moved to Uk, so i basically like them all.
