Absolutely, but i am coming back already even with all the ****!! There is certainly no place like home for me!! There are no countries that are perfect!!
i have had worse service levels in the States than i ever had in SA , The U.S govt is up to ****!! i find them totall hypocrites and to me there really is no difference between the liberals and the democrats!! At least we have parties who are
dramatically different , thus 'spicing ' it up a little.
The public health care system in the States is just as bad(if not worse)than SA.
They have a serious illegal immigration problem(as does SA) , At least in SA our public schools do not need metal detectors, nor have i heard of any students taking a AK (or whatever) and shooting a school/college to bits!! At least most of the children who finish Public Highschool in SA can Read!! Unlike U.S,so i am failing to see any real differences between the two!!
Oddly enough it is strange to me how "poor " people in America are FAT!! go figure.... |

no idea, since Im still here. I think a lot of other people would come here though since you didnt mention if the rand would get stronger , if it didnt then every american and pom would be practically millionaires! |

I can't say, I'm in SA and not planning to leave this country. I will stay here till the Government pay me a First Class ticket on Emirates Airways, provide me with a job in a rich country, with a huge house, expensive car, lots to eat and drink, and many luxuries.... sjoe, sound like they should just offer me a job in SA as a minister!!!! Untilll then, I WILL STAY IN THIS COUNTRY, UTOPIA OR NOT!!!! |

i am still here in sa and i dont think i ever want to leave, each country has it own sh*t and it stinks just as much.
SA is my Utopia |

Probably. But I don't think there is a Utopia anywhere. Wherever there's humans, there's trouble. |

I will be back soon regardless - utopia or part way to utopia would be good though. |

I haven't left yet....lol. Things are better now than pre-1994, the question is will it be better OVER THERE |

I left SA in 1994 and now live in the UK. I would go back tomorrow if my wife would let me. Things are bad in SA but they are bad in a different way over hear.
The government in the UK have introduced so many different rules and laws over the last few years that we are starting to turn into a police state. In the UK there is one CCTV camera for every 14 people, in some of the larger towns there is one CCTV camera per 6 people.
We now face the prospect of ID cards with Biometrics, drone CCTV cameras from the police service, pay per mile road charges etc. etc.
At least in SA you can see where your problems are coming from (Immigration from Zimbabwe, High Crime, Poor Pay etc), in the UK you never know what is coming next from our government. |

I like it here! I wouldnt emigrate!

Well you must have heard the saying that the grass is greener on the other side, Because there are more shite. One will never have the satisfaction of collecting and tasting it unless you have the courage to jump the fence every now and then. Well long green grass cuts easier and you can bring more home. |

Looking at most of the answers makes me feel a liitle more reassured as I have had feelings of wanting to come back home for a long time. Australia's OK but it has the same racial and crime issues like SA, like any other country in the world. (perhaps on a smaller scale) SA will always be home for me and in my heart I will always miss it. I would be back in a heartbeat if my hubby could easily find work there...he's a white Australian....our child is classified white, so we'll stick to OZ for now.
But I do love SA so.......
By the way...MichM...you're a pain in the $%$@...lighten up, not just on this question, but all the others as well!!! |

i agree with dWali that things are better now than they were pre 1994.ive been living between the Netherlands and Germany for the past 2 years and let me tell you SA is paradise compared to life here.crime in SA is a concern but still im counting those days until i can get out of this s h i t hole called europe and get back home.people make SA out to be worse than it is.the grass is not greener on the other side...........believe me. |

Nowhere in the World fits the criteria you set and you have your Utopia in South Africa. Its called Mandelatopia and your problems will get a lot worse before if ever they get better. |

where is this utopia? |

Message to SEBE!! I dont remember asking for your opinion!! I answered the q as did everyone else!! Get a life!!
IF -its a humongous IF!!! Then yes i would come back.
But the reality is thats is never going to happen.
My family and i are getting ready to leave SA by the end of this year and we are happy to go.
Normally i find that the people that say they will stick here in SA and never leave ever because SA is the best are the ones that have never left their fishbowl to see the rest of the world.
The ones that have seen and still come back and say its the best are definitely on something or are working for government and have a nice comfortable luxurious life here with no care in the world except what they eating next.
Thats the truth and its been my experiences that have showed me all of this before people become all fiesty!! Im entitled to my opinion since it is a free country , so free in fact that there is no such thing as a law or justice system!!
Thats the most free anyone could be. |
