Oh yes i would be, very much..... Even if they came unannounced and i didn't have anything ready at that time, i would order something from any restaurant but make sure to serve them myself. |

Cook?!! You actually cook for people?! looool I have to say I only cook for guests who are invited to dinner or something like that. Otherwise, I just serve drinks and dessert! But yes, I would be embarrassed if I wasn't prepared. |

Unless it is a B.B.Q. then I just stick to the serving up part and have the meal prepared for me.
Unfortunately I admit I have severe failings when it comes to being competent in this era. Thankfully my husband owns a hotel and an excellent restaurant so it is not really a problem and he knew my failings in the domesticity department before he asked me to marry him,so it has never been and issue or caused us problems.
When we do eat at home and prepare the food ourselves it is a team effort.
That way it is more difficult to apportion the blame if it is so disgusting it has to be tossed out lol.
I would really like to learn how to cook cordon bleu (?) meals, but have never had the time to experiment or someone to teach me how to do much more than the basics. . |

its depends on your guest if there are just your closed friends or family maybe you can ask them to cook together. But if they are your new guest then better to serve them properly. |

Depends. If it is a friend, I always have a beverage or a snack to offer. If they are going to stay for a long time, I cook or we go out for lunch, dinner, whatever it is.
But with a friend, they really won't care.
If it's someone that i don't really know, yeah I might feel like I was rude because I didn't offer anything or have anything prepared.
Again, it depends on who it is or why they are coming over. |

i personally would at least have something to offer, dont have to go all out and cook a full course meal but a beverage and snack would be nice. i would feel uncomfortable just thinking about what they would think if i hadnt offered ANYTHING. now if i was a guest at someone elses house, i probably wouldnt think anything of it if i wasnt offered something., |

Cook? No! Serve a beverage, yes! Un- announced or not! What have we come to? They must like YOU, more than you like them? Be Grateful! It may not always be that way! LIVE and LOVE! Good luck! |

no.. because I ask if they want something to eat/drink.. if they say no, I won't force feed them my marvellous cooking..
all else fails I'll point them to the chippy 5 minutes walk up the road.
serve them? most of my friends should make themselves at home within limits.. obviously not steal all my money , car etc.. |

It depends, if the visit was pre arranged I would definitely cook something but if they turn up unexpectedly then I would serve drinks and snacks but probably not a meal! |

No, I have done this many times - order a takeaway if they are staying and there is the local shop for any drink! |
