I would not give up my home to live in a mud hut. The average westerner would find it very hard to live with the basic circumstances that would be available. Water, for a start would not be piped into the hut and is usually fetched from some distance away and could be contaminated. Toilet facilities are usually just a hole dug into the ground which is a Cholera breeding facility. No electric supply available so no cookers or fridges. Saying all this not all Kenyans live in Mud huts or shanty housing, but live in modern housing as good as there is in western countries and with all the modern conveniences to hand. |
