I married someone who became my best friend!
It is only natural as Global man and others pointed out so well ... passion may fade and what will bind you forever will be the ties of friendship which will grow stronger as you learn to know and respect each other and be accomplices in all you do ...
We just had the 28 anniversary of our happy friendship, by the way ... |

I agree with Pie.
If he isn't already, I'm hoping that after you marry he will become your best friend. |

Absolutely! I am :-)
My fiance and I met as colleagues and very quickly became best of friends..........it wasn't till months later that "love was in the air" and something felt awkward - something started to tingle inside and one thing led to another :-)
And I definitely believe that you need to be like "best friends" with your mate in order for the marriage to last.......Passion only lasts for so long, then it mutates into a mature love/admiration, a sense of respect.....but if you don't get along as best friends would, you get bored of each other after a few years...
..........and at some point or another, I think we always have crushes on our best friends |

The only person I would ever want to marry is my best friend because my best friend would be the person that I would trust the most and enjoy being with the most.
Best friends are forever, and I would hope to be with him forever ;) |

If the person that you marry isn't your best friend too, then the marriage isn't going to last. |

Apart from your mum and girlfriends, your partner should be your best friend anyway..you'll be living with him for the rest of your life, you'll know every single little detail about each other and he'll be the first person you should go to when you need to talk about your problems, and the first person to share your feelings with, the person you want to laugh and cry with, the first person that comes to your mind to go out somewhere with... |

I did marry my best friend, and she is still my best friend.
If you are not someone's friend, why would you ever marry them.
I would think a person would want to marry someone who they enjoy talking to and being around. |

I think that a successful marriage is based on understanding .. since best friends really know each other they can easily live together and build their future together ..
so I would totally marry my best girl friend! |

i always looked at my best friend as a brother in some way.i knew him at school in year 9 and 20 years later we still have a strong friendship regardless of my hubby jealousy lol.he was there for me when i went on a surprise visit to Lebanon last year, and always lift my spirits up when having family troubles here in australia.
i had never ever considered a marital relationship.i cherish his friendship till the end of days. |
