Of course she shouldn't punish her daughter. All children, both boys and girls, love their teachers more than their parents, particularly at the KG and early primary levels. Teachers are the ones who provide them with all the knowledge that they've been hungry to acquire and usually KG and early prim teachers are young and beautiful, cute and fun. So it is just normal. On the other hand, parents' job is discipline and of course they annoy their children through this tough task.
Your friend's behaviour was wrong because she put herself in a competitive position with the teacher and there will always be comparison in the child's mind. In my opinion, she should have encouraged the admiration of the teacher in the hope of having her daughter love school, but at the same time, she should talk with her daughter and understand the source of this infatuation with the teacher and explain to her that her Mummy isn't that bad and tell her about all the positive things that she (the mother) has. This was the perfect opportunity for mother and daughter to share a conversation. Unfortunately, by her dictatorial rule, she shut her daughter who will never express her feelings again. Moreover, by asking the grandmother to behave in the same manner, she is distancing her too from the granddaughter. Grandparents have an extemely important role to play in their grandchildren's life and when the parents fail, grandparents always come to the rescue. |

If she is your colleague I guess she works ! Maybe , just maybe , this kid is trying to tell her something ! |

Mm.

I think she should punish herself because she's the one responsible for that. I am sure the kid has her reasons to love the teacher better, maybe she was there for her or her mother is always not playing with her. So she is the one who brought it upon herself.
Also love is not by force, you can't force your way into your child's heart. When you punish your kid for that she'll hate you even more, and start lying to you and hiding things. |

To be honest with you .. No I will never punish my kids for that.. First of all teachers spend more time with kids than parents, and it is their work being with kids. When kids comes home parents are tired because of a long day at work so they have to relax and don´t want their own kids around. So it is fully understandable that kids prefer their school teachers than mom and Dad. But when they grow up they ends to love their parents crazily |

i'd punish myself for driving my kid to love his teacher more.that would be a disaster.it has nothing to say except she better knows the way to my own kid than i do. there sure is something wrong in the way i'd be raising my kid up.but i'd also look at the bright sight, take advantage and talk to her about it,may be she has a key that would help me on the right way to gain his love once more.... |

i dunno lol , i don't have kids yet..
but generally , i think this is kinda alarm for the parents to pay some real attention to their kid..
and when a mom punishes her kid for saying such thing ; that indicates how weak she is..

why would she punish her daughter ?
what's her mistake. her feeling isn't something she could control
she should punish herself coz she couldn't make her daughter love her the most and also i believe she should get close to her daughter & see why she love her teacher and make her feel that she loves her teacher too .
to take care of children is not easy at all . i decided when i have bbe i'll visit psychologist every month |

I think that the daughter though guilt for doing this. Well if I was the mom I will just thank her for being honest and saying what's her feelings. I will also talk to her and ask her what are the differences between me and her and then do what my daughter told me she wants me to do and be like. But not PUNISHING HER. Come on that's not the right thing to do. This way when my daughter grows up she will do the same thing to my grand daughter. |

I don't think that'll make her love her mom any more now would it? :s |

Well I know that if I was a kid and i told this to my father, he would've punished me.
However I still don't have kids so I hope this would never happen.. |

find out why he is saying this ?
do you have any shortcomings with your child ?
children say what is on their mind, so there must be a reason ?
and talk to your child, children understand more than we think, so discuss and find out what is going wrong ?
be thankful to the teacher and do not punish your kid, he has not done anything wrong. |

No because they would hate you more. Also, they must have a reason for saying this, depending on what it is.
