Yes, I am. Fasting is conducive to atonement, for it tends to precipitate contrition in the one who fasts (Joel 2:12-18). This is why the Bible requires fasting on Yom Kippur (Leviticus 23:27, 29, 32; Numbers 29:7). Because hardship and calamitous circumstances can occur as a result of wrongdoing (Leviticus 26:14-41), fasting is often undertaken by the community or by individuals to achieve atonement and avert catastrophe (Esther 4:3, 16; Jonah 3:7). Moreover, fasting is a method of detoxification which is good for our health.
How about bagels with cream cheese and lox as break fast menu? Chatimah Tovah. |

Yes I will be fasting. My family has a big dinner tonight and then we eat a lot of grapes tomorrow before the fast starts. We also have a huge dinner for break the fast.
I start dreaming of ice cream for some odd reason (don't ask me why)
I hope you have an easy fast and nice and reflective Yom Kippur. |

Yes, I will be fasting. I am 29 and did it for the first time last year when my friends from israel came to visit me. It was the first time i really observed the holiday. I have to admit, it was very peaceful and I really loved it. Shame they wont be with me this year.

Hi Tabatha you know, yes I am fasting on Yom Kippur.
Thanks and have an easy fasting.
As an advice, eat as much cake and drink as much tea as you can until you get full before you start the fast . lol. I am just joking. It happens to me, before Ramadan I don't like to eat at all and once Ramadan comes I get a good appetite and I just think about eating and drinking.

This answer is for blapath <blapath>. Just to let you know that Muslims don't just for a half day. We fast from sunrise to sundown without anything to eat or drink!!! I don't know where you assumed that we drink while fasting, but we do not. Why would it be called fasting if we didn't actually fast from everything. We refrain youselves from any food, drink, and any type of sexual pleasures. From sunrise to sunset. At sunset is when we break our fast.
blapath <blapath> : Get your facts straight. Don't give false information if you're not 100% accurate. |

HAPPY and PEACEFUL YOM KIPUR !!!
Although I am not Jewish, I have studied the ancient Hebrew and Mesopotamia texts, and do my best to live as a B'NAI NOAH person. ( are you familiar with the B'NAI NOAH situation??
One who has / is studying the original texts and lives per their instructions.
I WISH ALL OF YOU, A GREAT SHALOM.

You fast. Do you fall kor`im? How many times?
Do you abstain from the other forbidden things, like leather shoes, cohabitation, washing?
Why? |
