You will find many helpfull staff inside the airport so don't worry =D

You should check with the airline and see if you are young enough to qualify for their children flying unattended service. My step son is 12 and he was flying from Alberta to Ontario and they had a flight attendant who escorted him from his mother to the plane and stayed with him on the flight and then escorted him from the plane to his father. He never had to be alone and they helped him through security and helped him with his bags and everything.

well if you get scared, just listen to some music and pretend like your somewhere else, or just try to sleep, and just keep thinking about how in like some amount of time you'll be at your friends house

hope I helped a little! :-)

Don't Be Nervous. Just ask questions on where to go. You could even talk to your parents and tell them where you are in the airport. They'll probably help and make you feel less lost. Trust me, it may be scary, but asking questions is a great help.

Even though the airport may be huge, you'll only be seeing a very small portion of it.

Let the flight attendant on board know you're flying alone, buy the Unaccompanied Minor service if you'd like, and ask for help when you get to your destination. There are plenty of employees whose job it is to make sure you get where you have to go.

Unless things have changed a great deal very recently, at 13 years old, you should be flying in what's termed an "unaccompanied minor" status.

Under this program, you are formally turned over to the airline by your parent(s). Once that happens, the airline is responsible for you throughout the flight to your destination.

Once you arrive at Chicago, it's the airline's responsibility to only turn you over to the care of a parent or another adult designated (in writing) by your parents. That person, even if it's a parent, will have to be able to prove their identity to the satisfaction of the airline before you will be released to them.

If you think Midway is hard to get around you should go to O'hare!

euphoric_anomaly
It doesn't matter who answers your vague, random question, the only way you'll help yourself is to just experience it and get through it. Without the advice, help, or reassurance from anyone.
