Well it all depends on the airline. Discount airlines like Southwest, Jetblue, Spirit don't have first class. However, it will say on your ticket or e-ticket. If it say 1st Class or Business Class - then you have a first class ticket.
If you look at your ticket and your seat is in row 8 or higher - your not in first class.
Funny, I read an answer that says "call them" - I kind of laughed because I called Jetblue on 4 times on 2 different days to get something fix on a reservation. I got something like "your call will be answered in 48 minutes" - and this was in the middle of the day. Then I tried to e-mail them - they answered me with some insane answer (how they hired this person is beyond me - customer service was so bad that if they outsourced there customer service to New Dehli, India it would of been a HUGE step up. |

Here's a list of airlines that fly from Tampa. You may have to call each one.

You should ask your Mom if she knows the price difference between coach and first class. It is usually a lot of difference.
The flight time between Tampa and Kentucky is only around 2 hours.
I presume you are under 21 years old so you will not be able to enjoy free cocktails that will be available in first class. The seats are more comfortable than in coach. However, for a fairly short flight, is it worth the price difference?
If your Mom is not really rich, it would probably mean a lot to her if you would thank her for the kind gesture of allowing you to go first class but tell her that coach class is good enough and you do not want her to spend that extra money like that. |

Easiest way is to go to their web site. If you use it to buy a ticket (and you don't need to actually complete the transaction), you will be given an option to purchase first class if they offer it. |

Only low coast airlines do not have 1st class,
But the big one (A, UA, NW USair, etc) still do offer fisrt class ans/or business class.
Understand, many short haul may not have business or 1st class, due to aircrafts configuration nor economical for the airlines.
Exemple: USAir offer 1st class service from Los Angeles to La Vegas (only 45 min flight) but Southwest and JetBlue don't. |

Contact the airlines and ask them. I can tell you firsthand, many flights DO have first class seats. But, now that I think about it, it may be for longer flights and not for short domestic flights.
Contact by email or phone. I'm sure they'll be glad to help you. |
