NO NO NO!
Simple as that... A lazer pointer is considered a weapon by both Transport Canada and Federal Aviation Administration.

if you use it, they'll think someone has a rifle on the airplane

People in the airline business are dead strict and will not allow you to bring any type of laser pointer on the plain. You can keep it in your luggage but not as carry on. They'll think your hold a gun with a laser attachment or your trying to blind the pilots lol.

i'm sure you can as long as you don't point it at any aircraft.

There's a federal law that anyone who points a laser pointer at an aircraft gets up to 5 years in jail

but otherwise just stick it in your checked luggage...no one is gonna steal it

i dont think so. its better not to bring it. my mom forgot about her nail file in her purse and they had to take her off to the side and search her when we were going to washington d.c.

I doubt they would let you take it on the plane. The "security risk" is too high. Your laser will not blind anybody. It takes a long time to blind somebody with a laser. Your laser is in the visible spectrum, around 700nm, so it does minimal damage. However, an infra-red laser at around 800nm will melt the inside of somebody's eye in around 10 seconds, but still will not blind them.
