Airline advice? |
Hello
My airline have changed my itinerary without informing me, I'm on the frequent flyer programme. Uniteds.
I'm due to fly out in September, the flight was due to be a direct flight from LHR to LAX and now is LHR > Chicago > Los Angeles. I4 hours instead of 11.
I wasn't informed in writing about this or email, I have of course complained - though should they compensate me with a free upgrade to first class for the inconvience caused.
I've only flown twice - the last time I got upgraded to Business - complete surprise, and the first time to premium economy.
I'm due to go in September
Thanks
Andrew |

You did well with the upgrades I have flown so many times I have lost count.......
I think this is sooooo wrong I would be fuming, I always choose direct flights, I would definitely try for some sort of compensation because non direct flights tend to be cheaper any way |

Check the fine print when you purchase so far in advance. All airlines are allowed to change their schedules, and usually do so 4 times a year.
You can be the squeaky wheel, and complain, but they are not obligated to do anything other than get you to your destination.
Same as if an aircraft that has mechanical difficulty -- they have to re-accommodate you on a different flight or itinerary - but that may include an extra layover.
Be thankful that you were upgraded - unless you are an Elite or Premium member with a ton of miles.
Most flights today are booked full - and it is harder to get upgraded with under 250,000 miles.
Have a good and safe trip. |

good luck, mine is changed all the time without notice... apparently they can do this and not have to inform you. |

A lot of airlines have clauses that state that they have the right to change flights with no notice. These clauses have existed for years. Hence why it was one the reasons why airlines used to ask passengers to confirm flights 72 hours in advance. Most airlines these days don't change schedules and flights frequently or regularly. When they do, it's usually in line with airport timetables to arrange landing/takeoff slots for an increasing number of flights or there is an emergency. Having said this, the US airlines still seem to change flights and schedules for no apparent reason at no apparent time. They have always said it was for commercial business reasons but this does not make any sense when you realise how frequently they do change schedules.
Forgot to add that you can ask for the upgrade as compensation. The worst they will say is no. |

That is 7 months away. I wouldn't worry about it too much yet. The flight may change again (for better or worse). They have in their clauses that flights can change without warning. You just have to go with the flow on it. |

United,TWA, and Delta don't have good policies, often I have heard about lots of complaints toward the policies. Difficult to get into this as they push you away to get what you deserve. Lots of people included my dad's traveling on business have discover the good and thoughtful service with Southwest Airlines than most of airlines industry. My dad gets one free ticket every 5 trips. He saves them for my mom to travel with him for the special times or business conventions. I have traveled on Southwest Airlines some and have found them considerate airline staffs about my requests.South west Airlines rarely do that to me as far I know and have not done that to my dad. Try Southwest Airlines and compare with what you always have done or what you expect from. All I can think of having a little change to make things different and less complicated for you. |
