Airlines that let 16 year olds travel all alone?

So, I have traveled all over by myself, but I was an UM, (umacompianed minor), and I have had some really bad experiences with being a UM. I hate being held in those 'holding cells,' or be stuck in 'Dusty's Den' (in Denver) for 11 hours because they forgot about me and I missed my flight. I am looking for an airline carrier that lets 16 year old people fly alone, not as UM's, in the US. I am flying from Oregon to North Carolina, if it helps.
Thanks so much!

Call around to the airlines and ask, look on their websites. If you want to show your mature enough to fly alone your then mature enough to do the leg work.

You got left in a place for 11 hours and missed your flight. Why in the heck didn't you just LEAVE the area and go to your flight? The airlines would have wised up real fast at the gate.

Just check around, several airlines allow 16 years olds to fly alone, though your parents will still have to fill out the UA form. The "escort" option is on that form. Make sure your parents don't tick that box.

I believe all the major airlines let 16 year olds travel alone.

double check with the airline though.

AirTran and I think their partner Frontier will allow you to fly alone. But I am not sure if they fly between those two destinations. You just have to check their website

AirTran defines an unaccompanied minor as a child at least five (5) years of age but less than twelve (12) years of age who is not accompanied by a customer twelve (12) years of age or older. Unaccompanied minors will be accepted for travel, with limitations, based on their itinerary. A child five (5) to seven (7) years of age will be accepted only on nonstop or direct flights between their origin and destination. A child eight (8) to eleven (11) years of age will be accepted even if their itinerary involves a connecting flight, provided the connecting flight is not the last flight of the day to their destination.

A child twelve (12) to fifteen (15) years of age is not required to travel as an unaccompanied minor. However, AirTran will accept children in this age category as unaccompanied minors upon request. When a child twelve (12) to fifteen (15) years of age is accepted, their itinerary may include a connecting flight, provided the connecting flight is not the last flight of the day to their destination. All applicable fees will apply.

Delta also will let you fly alone.

General Guidelines
Unaccompanied service is required for all children 5–14 years old when not traveling in the same compartment with an adult at least 18 years old or the child's parent/legal guardian.
Children ages 5–7 years can only fly on nonstop or direct flights with no change of planes.
Children ages 8–14 years can fly on nonstop or connecting flights, but may not connect to other airlines, with the exception of Delta Connection carriers (excluding AA Eagle) and Air France.
Children 15–17 are not required to have unaccompanied service but we will provide it when requested.
An unaccompanied child can not be booked on the last connecting flight of the evening. This is to prevent the need for an overnight stay in a hotel. Contact Reservation Sales before you book here at delta.com if you have questions about connecting flights.

Northwest for sure does. Actually I'm pretty sure most airlines do.

most airlines will let you go on your own if you're over age 12....northwest is 14, united is 12, it really just depends, check your airlines UM policy. you should be fine @ 16 though, you're mature enough to find your way through the airports and such. I would recomend the morning flights so you can get to your destination with no problems in case of delays and cancellations. they can't put you up in a hotel room because hotels won't take anyone under the age of 18, so you'd be stuck at the airport! hope this helps

summer! :D
i think jetblue and usairways do cause im 17
