Airplane on an international flight?

i'm going to italy in less than a week and i have a quick question about the plane. we're flying from LA to Chicago, then to Brussels, Belgium.

will the plane for Chicago to Brussels MOST LIKELY be one of those that has threes rows across. [3 seater row on the left, many seater row in middle, and 3 seater row on the right?] i know you can't say for sure, but is it likely?
Additional Details
i just love those kinds of planes!

Just wanted to correct Steven H's point - Brussels Airlines (http://www.brusselsairlines.com/) also flies direct Chicago to Brussels and many other airlines (KLM, BA) fly between the two with stop overs.
But the answer to your question is yes, more than likely.

As for perpetual... No, no 747 has a 3-8-3 configuration; 3-5-3 is commonest in economy. And why you talk so much about Italy beats me as Missy is going to Belgium - very different countries. And by the way, your very negative attitude doesn't help - I could certainly say a few things about the US (e.g. LAX is a far, far worse and dirtier airport than any European one) but why? Just because you didn't enjoy yourself... Not everyone travels to a foreign country just to recreate the USA!

Check your reservation and it will usually say the type of plane you're on and your seat number.

This website is a great resource for seeing what your seating arrangement will be like:

Have a good trip!

yeah, its likely

depends on the airline because not all airlines own those planes. but if it is american, united, delta, lufthansa, etc..then yes. HAVE FUN!!

Steven H
Well American Airlines is the only airline that flys Brussels-Chicago. So on the Brussels Chicago flight you will be on a 767-300. The seating is 2 seats than 3 seats in the middle and two seats. So yes you will have a plane with seats in the middle or (wide Body) airplane. Buts its not to bad since its
2-3-2.

Mizz Pilot
most likely

You'd have to call the airline you're flying and ask them what kind of aircraft it is...they can tell you the seat configuration...

Most large planes (for international flights) I've been on are set up like this:

3 seats in the middle, two on the left, two on the right.

dab617
probably

perpetualinibriation
depends on the airplane itself; a 747 has 3 seats on each side and 8 in the middle for each row.

Whatever airplane, or airline you go on ask to see if you can upgrade to a better level than economy, you're looking at 13+ hours of flight ahead of you.

Last year I flew on British Airways from Los Angeles (LAX) to Heathrow/London, that was about 11 hours nonstop, and then from Heathrow/London to Fiumicino/Rome, that was like an additional 3-4 hours.

Also, this is crucial, since you're making many stops, and if you're changing flights, please make sure you have at least, ok, AT LEAST an hour between flights, otherwise I guarantee you that they'll lose your luggage. People just don't realize how infamous Europeans airports are for losing people's luggage. There's a HALL dedicated to lost/missing/delayed luggage at Rome's Fiumicino Airport, yes it's that bad! And it's always full of rows and rows of people's luggage!

Have fun, and wear cool clothing. At this time of the year Italy gets to like 110 degrees in the shade in the daytime, and you may even experience thunderstorms at night!

Most important of all, have fun, just remember though, Italians are very rude people, and depending on where you're going, don't expect clean streets, expect graffiti, trash, pollution, huge huge huge crowds. Also if you're not staying at an American Hotel (Hilton, Holiday Inn, Motel 6) don't expect large comfortable rooms. Expect small, cramped, dusty, tiny little rooms.
