Airport luggage pickup question?

I'm flying on my own next week, which is kind of scary. I've flown before so I remember the basics, but this time I have one stop between flights (last time it was nonstop). I don't know if I'm supposed to pick up my suitcase and take it somewhere, or do I leave it on the luggage rotation thingy and it will get to the other plane on its own. I'm moving across states, so it would really suck to lose my suitcase, since that's what I'll be living out of until I get settled in.

They'll do the luggage transfer for you, you don't have to pick it up until you're at your final destination

If your flights are all domestic, the airline will handle all baggage transfers. The only time you need to pick up your luggage between flights is when you're leaving or entering the country.

Unless you are going to another country, you don't need to worry about your luggage at all. It should be on the designated carousel at the end of your trip. The airlines handle all the switches.

If you are going to another country, you will need to get your bags and take them through customs, then recheck them before catching your next flight.

I've never changed planes either. But Miss Nikki is correct, otherwise you would be queuing up again at check-in and customs. I should think you will go through a different gate to those who are picking their luggage up. should be a gate for transfers, so you will be continually 'air-side'. Good Luck.

As long as your flights are all on one airline you are okay. If you are switching airlines (for example, first flight on United, second flight on American), then it may not be possible to check the bag all the way through to your final destination. The check-in agent will let you know when you drop your bags off.

No, It won't even go into the airport they will make sure it goes to your next flight the only time you would need to get you luggage is when you arrive at your final destination.

skullhead bob
if your ticket lists the transfer then they will do it for you. usually just wait till the very end of your flight.

When you check-in at the airport, the Customer Service Agent there will check your luggage to your final destination, and will tell you where the luggage is checked to, and tell you where your boarding area is, and give you claim checks for your luggage, and answer any questions that you have there.

Regards,
Dan
