Yeh, if you're carrying loads of it--like an entire suitcase-full or something like that. If they're obviously used, then no problems.

When you check out, no. They only x-ray it to make sure there's no bombs or weapons or any of that stuff. But when you get to your destination, that's another story. Customs can open your bags to check if you have any import tax to pay. If you have used stuff, there shouldn't be a problem, but if you have new stuff they might make you pay tax on your items, and eventually- depending on where you are going- look for fake stuff. This happens frequently in flights from China to Italy and France for example, because because they are both known high end luxury products manufacturers, and China is a known fake producer ( the copyright laws in China are different from ours, and they can copy pretty much what they want- so I'm not passing judgement on the Chinese in any way, it's a cultural issue that with time will be resolved)

It is Customs rather than the police who show an interest in what you are carrying. Unless you are bringing large numbers of items into the country with the intention of selling them for profit, Customs will not mind.

I recently returned from Thailand with a dozen pirated DVD's which I declared to Customs when I arrived. It wasn't a problem.

I think they don't ask for those stuff but they will check for different kinds utensils type of things like steel and stuff.
