Well first of all.. you could still easily get a window seat. Airlines keep about 30% of seats to assign at the airport. So there are most likely plenty of seats out there.

Two options.

1. Call them and tell them your story. Airlines have heard it all, so there is a good chance they will still tell you there is nothing they can do. But give it a shot.

2. Get the airport very early. Since many seats are going to be assinged at the airport, getting their early gives you first crack getting the window seat. Just so you know, aisle seats statiscally go before windows, so you should be fine.

3. Last option, if you get stuck in a middle or aisle, ask the person kindly next to you to switch. Tell them its a medical issue. most people probabaly would.

Call the airline and see if they can help you out ahead of time. If not, just be sure to check in early on the day of your flight. If your airline allows online check-in, then do that as soon as you are able (usually 24hrs before your flight).

You can probably just call you airline directly and request your seat assignment. and its not cheesy most people actually prefer a certain seat (ie. aisle or window) in order to feel comfortable flying.

I agree with the other answerers about talking to the airline.

You shouldn't have a problem getting a window seat. Lots of traveling professionals actually prefer an aisle seat.

You can try to call the airline and explain, but some airlines base the seats on a first to check in, first to pick seat basis. If that is the case with this airline the best thing you can do it check and see what the maximum check in time is on their website. Most let you check in 24 hours before your flight so make sure you go online 24 hours before, check in and then pick your seats. Other airlines are on a first to check in basis, but all it does when you check in is put you in a zone, zone 1,2,3, etc. If you check in online as soon as possible and get a zone 1 then you need to make sure you are at the gate and in line as early as possible so you can board with all the other zone 1 people and pick your seat along with them.

Sometimes you could change seats at the check in. Once I was on a flight from San francisco to Singapore and at the check in we asked if we could change seats to get window seats. And guess what I am going to say. He said yes.
