It has to be under 100ml's in size...so as long as it's a small travel size, you'll be fine. Anything larger isn't allowed.

As far as I know, yes, but guidelines change and you should contact TSA to find out.

Asking random strangers about federal guidelines is kind of silly when you can just get the real answer directly from the agency.

Start here:

yes - but you must put it in a clear plastic bag before going into the departure lounge.

Once you go through the security check in you can buy some in the shops before the boarding gate. Not exactly the answer to your question but it is a sure fire way of being able to freshen your mouth on the plane

Air travelers may now carry liquids, gels and aerosols in their carry-on bag when going through security checkpoints.

The following rules apply to all liquids, gels, and aerosols carried through security checkpoints.

1. All liquids, gels and aerosols must be in 3.4 ounce (100 ml) or smaller containers. Larger containers that are half-full or toothpaste tubes rolled up are not allowed. Each container must be 3.4 ounces or smaller.
2. All liquids, gels and aerosols must be placed in a single, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag. Gallon size bags or bags that are not zip-top such as fold-over sandwich bags are not allowed. Each traveler can use only one, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag.
3. Each traveler must remove their quart-sized plastic, zip-top bag from their carry-on and place it in a bin or on the conveyor belt for X-ray screening. X-raying separately will allow TSA security officers to more easily examine the declared items.

THEY ARE SERIOUS ABOUT THE ONE QUART ZIP TOP BAG! A friend of mine just got back from a trip and she used a gallon bag. She ended up having to throw away a lot of stuff. Also, her husband had some 1/2 full containers of things such as shaving cream and body wash that he had to throw away, too. Read the rules and follow them to the letter or they will make you throw your items away.

You can take many liquids with you as long as they are in clear plastic bag in a tube that is 3oz or less. There is a comprehensive list that you can search the internet for which states all of the stipulations. Toothpaste is allowed on the above terms.

You will get a small sized toothbrush & toothpaste in the travel packet you get onboard, so you really don't need it. If you don't get one, buy the travel size one and carry it in a clear bag. You can. however, put it in the suitcase.

You should be ok as long as it's under 100ml but you must put it a clear plastic bag along with any other liquids, gels, pastes and creams and show it at the security check (the bit with the metal detectors and the bag x-rays). There are many signs up in airports now which tell you exactly what to do here and the Virgin website has a detailed summary of the regulations.

Last time I flew with Virgin Atlantic was from Shanghai to Heathrow and all passengers were given a bag of freebies which included a toothbrush and toothpaste, eyemask etc, so assuming you are flying long-haul, I probably wouldn't bother taking your own; again, you should be able to find out about this on the airline's website.
