Most airports with anti-smoking laws DO provide designated smoking areas outside. Just ask the friendly attendants who are outside (usually they're wearing reflective vests or some kind of uniform).
I've yet to fly into the Philadelphia airport (though I have been to the lovely city), but their website says there's no smoking in the airport at all. From their website:
("Q. Does the Airport have smoking areas?
A. Smoking is NOT permitted in the Airport.")
I have been to the Charlotte Douglass airport, and I remember seeing a designated smoking area outside. After checking their website here's what they had to say:
"Charlotte Douglas International is a smoke- free facility. Smoking is prohibited in all public areas, which includes all restaurants and bars. The smoke-free policy does not impact airline clubs, which are considered non-public areas.
Smokers on the front curb of the terminal are encouraged to use courtesy areas on each end of Baggage Claim and Ticketing levels."
Even if the airport doesn't have anti-smoking laws, please be respectful and try to stay away from children when smoking. |

No, you will have to go outside the terminal. Thus having to pass through security again. Sucks |

As long as you're outside, smoke till you drop! I use Phillie Airport and the security guards always give me a light! ;-) |

Neither of these airports have smoking lounges. If you want to smoke, you will have to go outside, through security. With only 1.5 hours, it might be kind of tight. Before leaving the secured area, check the security lines. If they are long, you may not want to risk it. You don't want to miss your flight. Be sure you have your boarding pass for your next flight so that you can get back through security. |
