It's the best in my opinion, based on my experiences in airports, but I've not been to all of the world's airports (yet), mostly Europe and the US. AMS Schiphol is "best" to me because it's very easy to make connections. They've designed a circular hub-and spoke arrangement that means you don't have to spend hours walking from one end to another; it's a very efficient design for moving people, with lots and lots of moving walkways. Plus, it has the best shopping (selection and prices, and duty-frees), restaurants at a variety of price levels, bars, casinos, art gallery, plaza with a fountain, supermarket, hotel, train stop below the airport for local and international train connections. And it's clean, tidy, modern, comfortable (the big red curvy chairs and the psychiatrist benches are my favorites), easy to find toilets, phones, customer service counters, staff always helpful, English is great... it all adds up to the best. I always enjoy connecting through AMS. |

Absolutley. Easy to make connections, cheap herrings, cheese with cummin in it and an art gallery. Everything a traveller needs.
On the flip side I would like to nominate Melbourne Tullamarine International (not domestic) as the crappiest airport in the world. (that is attached to a first world, international city) |
