Amsterdam Airport Schiphol - the world's best airport?

Show all answers

Mr. T's Pretty Cuzzin
It's the best in my opinion, based on my experiences in airports, but I've not been to all of the world's airports (yet), mostly Europe and the US. AMS Schiphol is "best" to me because it's very easy to make connections. They've designed a circular hub-and spoke arrangement that means you don't have to spend hours walking from one end to another; it's a very efficient design for moving people, with lots and lots of moving walkways. Plus, it has the best shopping (selection and prices, and duty-frees), restaurants at a variety of price levels, bars, casinos, art gallery, plaza with a fountain, supermarket, hotel, train stop below the airport for local and international train connections. And it's clean, tidy, modern, comfortable (the big red curvy chairs and the psychiatrist benches are my favorites), easy to find toilets, phones, customer service counters, staff always helpful, English is great... it all adds up to the best. I always enjoy connecting through AMS.

I've travelled extensively, both for work and pleasure. I can say without a doubt that Schiphol is the best airport for the traveller.

It's pretty good, however I preffer DFW.

It's certainly one of the best at least. It's very well laid out and pleasant for a huge airport.

I reckon it used to be but now there are better around the world.. Dubai Intl for example....

no i have never been i should go i guess.

Absolutley. Easy to make connections, cheap herrings, cheese with cummin in it and an art gallery. Everything a traveller needs.

On the flip side I would like to nominate Melbourne Tullamarine International (not domestic) as the crappiest airport in the world. (that is attached to a first world, international city)

For such a small island Palma Majorca is pretty impressive have you seen the size of it it is huge !!

i have now been through schipol three times, but unfortunately have no recollection of what the airport is like.

pretty sure i remember a mandonalds or burger king tho...

luddite
No. Kansai International is the worlds best.
