Dont get nervous,
I have been on flights which have...........

Been struck by lightening, had a near miss over Mexico City,
tyres blew out landing in Kenya, holes punched in the side of the aircracft by steps driven up to the aircraft, my cousin and I had extra days holiday freein Mexico when the plane we were waiting for for our return flight home, the luggage bay doors fell of after taking off from Miami, my mum and dad were on the now famous BA flight where the captain was almost sucked from the cockpit window I could go on but.............hell fire, its still one of the safest forms of transport.............and I just love flying anywhere, I will get on a plane to any place.......................

This is media for you. Because of a major incident last week, it suddenly becomes a hot potato. A slight malfunction with no risk on a different type of plane is only news because of last week's event.

I was on a plane that had a landing gear problem just last month. Didn't even make the local news. Neither would this had it happened before last week. Don't forget the media are doom merchants - anything to get their readership/viewership/listenership up.

I wouldn't for a couple of reasons.

The first is that Qantas is taking every step to ensure that their planes are safe. They can't afford to have problems on their flights from a business standpoint and pilots and crew don't want to be in an aircraft that's not airworthy so I would expect that everything is being checked more closely than normal.

Secondly, even with the recent problems air travel is still the safest way to get from point A to B.

not at all.
It's not like it crashed and killed hundreds.
It had a problem.
Every single airline in the entire world has had problems before, and a lot of the airlines that we may not be paranoid flying with have had fatal crashes.
Why should we be afraid of Qantas, who didn't have a horrible crash, and not be afraid of the airlines that did?
Doesn't make much sense now, does it?

dick19532003
not at all considering quantas has never yet lost a passenger due to a crash, which i think is some impressive record.

rogerwtts
I wouldnt hesitate to fly with them, afterall this incident was a one off,its not going to happen on every flight.

sandtwixtoes
i'm paranoid flying with anyone at anytime....

Not at all as Qantas have never crashed.
The incident that happened recently could potentially happen to any aircraft so try to get things in perspective a littlle.
I have flown to Australia with Qantas and found them to be a fantastic airline.

Just relax and remember they will be even more stringent now with safety checks than ever before.

v_1194
Noope . I wouldnt. I always wanted to fly with them. As long as nobody died . . . That shows that they have very good pilots =]

murphywingedspur
Mmmmm, starting to smell a bit like sabotage isn't it?
