I've never been on a plane and i'm planning on flying for the first time in the next few months. Can anyone give me some information on things I will need to know about flying...for example, any policies or anything? Any descriptions about what it's like? Any answers are appreciated! |

Just relax.
Pack lightly.
You want to carry everything with you if possible. Otherwise you have to check your bags and that gives the possibility of them getting lost, and it takes more time.
Don't pack anything sharp, explosive or, under new silly regulations, liquid.
*Nail clippers/scissors
*pocket knife
*toothpaste
*bottled water
*matches
All OUT.
Wear loose shoes, you may be asked to take them off. Airports treat you like a prisioner.
Bring gum. When the plane starts to move start chewing, keep it up untill it levels off (you may need several pieces). This helps your ears. It just does.
Also chew before descent/landing.
Major thing, don't worry about being attacked...it's sooooooo unlikely. |

Oh, I envy you. I love flying. I've only done it rarely. Don't take pointy things...you can contact your airline for advice on what's permitted. Take enough in your carry-on bag to last you a couple of days (in case your luggage is delayed). Underwear, medications, umm...feminine things. Pack a snack and a bottle of water. The cabin air dries you out. Have fun. |

Sit by a window and enjoy the view. Clouds are fluffy and look like huge balls of cotton. Chances are that the flight will be smooth and the vibrations will probably put you to sleep. Buy a travel pillow that you can rest your head on.
Do not drink alcohol before going or take a sedative. Not necessary and it may make you feel sick.
Flying is a very safe way of travel, it is fun, and you may have a good conversation with the person next to you. If the person next to you is boring, just pretend to sleep.
Above all, just relax, follow the simple airline and airport rules, get to the airport plenty early and have fun. |

I fly 3-4 times a month. It is fun. And it is far safer than driving as well. The airline personnel will tell you what to do. Maybe you will even get a cute flight attendant to fasten your seatbelt for you - American Airlines has the best. |

Flying is great. I love to fly Southwest Air. Great service, ticket less confirmation & check-in, etc.. One thing though. It can be boring or you may not want a 4 hour conversation with your "neighbor". I always bring some great tunes or my laptop. Have a great flight and you'll be a cool mama. Take Care. |

It is an exhilarating experience! You will never feel more power than when it's taking off! Its a rush and a little scary at first but you will be too busy enjoying the thrill of being above the earth, looking out over clouds you've only ever seen from the ground. The flight attendants will help you with anything you need; and there is ALWAYS someone nearby willing to talk to you! :-) The worst part will be getting through security; but maybe you'll luck out and the line will be short! Sit back and relax and have a wonderful first flight! Nothing to worry about believe me....Bon Voyage! |

Take a sedative. Sometimes the turbulence is bad and flying at night is creepy. Go to your doctor and have him write you out a sedative. It is better than being paranoid with all the terrorism attacks going on. At least if you are sedated you won't care. |
