Any reason you shouldn't wear contacts when flying?

good gosh i hope not, ive a handful of times with contacts in and never had a problem

nick_dyke4x4
If you were a jet pilot yeah just a few reasons: the increase in G-force could acctually fuse the contact to your cornea, or it could push it to were it folds and cuts the eye it's self. But if you were just flying commercial or small prop job planes then there is only one thing to worry about and thats the contact falling out of your eye and not being able to find it. Hope this answers your question.

you eyes might become very dry and irritated due to cab bin air the best solution is to just take your lens holder with you and to take your glasses with you

No reason not to but personally I try not to. If I do, I tend to take my contacts case on with me. Usually in the plane with it's colder, your eyes tend to get dryer, often making your eyes itchy and red. So I try not to.

But if you're fine with it, why not.

I'm a flight attendant and I always fly with my contacts.

Except for the one week I had an infection.

The only reason I think would be is the cabin air affecting your eyes. They may become dry and irritated. However, I do not personally wear contacts but a friend of mine does and he has experienced this once before.

No reason that you cant. The air in the cabin is dry. I can only tolerate contacts inflight for about 4 hours befor my eyes become red and irritated, but every one is different. Bring some moisterizing eye drops with you and you should be fine.

Just Jess
The biggest reason why some people don't wear contacts when they fly is that they find the dry airplane air irritating to their eyes as it drys the contacts out faster.

That said, I have a friend who is a flight attendant who wears his contacts when he works. He's on the plane and in the air for 8-12 hours a day and he doesn't seem to have a problem.

pain in the back
The pressurized cabin air causes the eyes to become very dry.It is not advisable to keep contact lenses in for that reason.
