I have to go to Georgia for a week by myself (stink) and am VERY nervous anyone got any tips on what to do, bring, and how to avoid cold gloves in a body cavity search.

1. wear comfortable clothes, be prepared to take your shoes off for check in.
2. bring a snack for the plane (granola bars, fruit, sandwich). The meals (if any) are very skimpy. Airport food is expensive.
3. check your luggage, don't carry much on the plane.
4. bring a book or something to do to pass the time. iPods are OK, too.
5. NEVER JOKE AROUND about bombs, hijacking, or violence of any kind. Definite cold glove treatment for that (or even jail).
6. make sure you have a gov issued picture ID (Passport, Driver's licence).
7. No liquids, gels, pastes or sharp objects with carry-ons.
8. Get to the airport at least 90 minutes before the scheduled departure of the plane.
9, For nerves, try square breathing (see below).

Try to get some sleep during the flight and time will pass more quickly.

Chew gum vigorously when the plan is ascending and descending.

Just relax :) Its pretty much like taking the bus.

I've done countless transatlantic flights, and the only thing I can recommend is to take a few dramamine (original formula) tablets before boarding (or when they bring the first round of drinks). I've never gotten airsick, but these beautiful little orange pills of goodness make an 8-hour flight seem much quicker.

If you can't sleep on the flight, enjoy the sub par film selection. If you're lucky, your machine will be equipped with video games on the back of each chair. Nothing like 6 hours of bejeweled to calm the soul.

I (jokingly) once asked a security personnel guard if I was about to get the "full search" in on Easter weekend (stressful time) in 2004, and he jokingly answered that they don't do that. Most security people aren't that friendly though, and would take the question more seriously, I'm afraid.

TRY TO GET A WINDOW SEAT. YOU CAN SEE BETTER IF YOU DON'T SIT OVER THE WING. TAKE OFFS AND LANDING ARE AWESOME!

Nothing to be nervous about. Chewing gum will help with your ears popping when taking off and landing. As for what to bring check out this web site for a list of things not allowed www.tsa.gov. Stick to the list and there shold be no reason to feel the "cold glove" . Arrive at the airport atleast 90minutes before your flight leaves to make sure you have enough time to check in and go thru security and make it to your departure gate. If you have connecting flights check your airlines web site for flight status to see what gates you'll be arriving and departing from so you have an idea of where to go. Whatever airport/airports you are going to ,they all have a web site so you can see the terminal map to see where your gates are.
Happy travels...you'll love flying.

There's nothing to fear. Just arrive at the airport early. Bring something to read or listen to on the plane.

For first time fliers I would recommend chewing gum to help alleviate the "ear-popping" of quick ascent-descent. Also the landing is almost always a little rough.

Other than that, relax and when you are standing in line for anything, try not to use any phrases that might inlcude "I've been laid in a gent club." "I really don't like W. It was all a act Bar[b]." "Did you see the play Shoebox? It was a real bomb." or "How did Ima tear her wrist?"

get drunk and dont carry any drugs or weapons! - oh and dont mention the "B" word

Georgia (ex-USSR) or the one in the USA?

For the ex-USSR one : dont stare at the security people; don't walk too quickly through the airport lounge; dont leave your bag when you go into the toilet. Have a few $10 or £5 bills with you to 'ease' your journey.

For the US one : Just DON'T go there
