When booking with ryanair, be sure to work through each webscreen fully before you decide to book. A one way fare advertised on the initial page as costing Â£0.01 or â‚¬0.01 will end up as a fare in the region of Â£40 - â‚¬40.
- Additional charges are also made for luggage. - (even if you are only travelling with hand luggage and not checking bags on). The website will also try to sell you insurance on your flights. - Check your credit card company first to compare whether their insurance is more comprehensive and cheaper. - Also you will be charged an additional fee if paying with a credit or debit card. - Costs mount up quickly and it is worthwhile comparing the Ryanair end figure (just before you confirm the flights and press "pay") with any other airline.

In addition, most Ryan air airports are located many miles from the destination city. There is very little information available on the ryanair website about how to complete your onward journey to your destination city. - For short weekend breaks, this can often add considerable travelling time onto your journey. - And note: many of the airports that ryanair fly to don't have ATM machines for local currency!
Brussels Charleroi is notoriously bad for this. Glasgow Prestwick however allows ryanair passengers half price rail travel to anywhere in Scotland on presentation of your boarding card on the train or at the station. (worthwhile keeping them for that.)

Ryanair flights get you from place to place - eventually. - They are well known for arriving on time, but, if there are delays or cancellations, the airline will not reimburse. - It is a little like "cattle class"
Importantly, be attentive to the maximum baggage weight, even a gram over allowance and you will be charged heavilly.

Ryanair have a free seating policy onboard, so it is useful to be amongst the first in the queue when boarding, especially if you want two or more seats together. To give yourself optimum opportunity of this, arrive very early at the airport and be amongst the first to check in. People arriving early are given priority boarding as are people with elderly passengers or small children.

On board and you are bombarded with opportunities to give them even more money: - food- is very expensive, very poor quality and there is little choice. They will then try and sell you gift items and then, famously, their scratchcards and calling cards. - Most flight attendants have limited English.

It isn't ideal, but if you can book in advance and have time to travel, then it often works out as the cheapest way to fly.

They are ok if you find a good fare and are not pretentious.
The downside, in my opinion, is that in some cases they fly to far away airport like Frankfurt-Hahn wich is not even in Frankfurt, or Reus ( they promote it as Barcelona).

I guess for the money, and if you are not in a hurry, ryanair is a good airline.

if everything goes well then it is excellent value for money but they are not interested if problems arise, eg airport fogbound, plane delays

We flew to Dublin with them and booked our hotel through
RYAN AIR , it was fine , on time , the hotel was great , it
expensive for a drink on board , good luck.

Although it gets some bad publicity its not so bad. It's as safe and as comfortable as any airline. It is reputed to have delays etc, but they usually don't last long. If you can risk getting delayed 30 minutes or so, then there is no reason not to fly with them.

Cheap but reliable. No delays and very quick getting everyone on and off board in a busy airport.

I used Ryanair to fly from Stansted to Salzburg without any problem Cheap and took off/landed on time. I know they have reduced the hold luggage allowance now.

They are pretty reliable - the flights are very cheap, but basically you get what you pay for. You can travel with them for a pound on some of their flights, but don't expect to be comfortable or anything!

I flew them once to/from London/Brussels. They were fine. Good price and reliable.

Only misunderstanding on my part was that they flew to Brussles Charleroi airport, which WAS NOT where my cousins were waiting. My bad for not knowing Brussels had two airports and I told them to meet me at the wrong one.

I've flown with them twice to Portugal, but I'll only do it if the air fares are really cheap. Sometimes, depending on the time of the year, they are just as expensive as other airlines. Also, they only fly from cetain airports (from Stanstead to Portugal), so I must be making a great saving in order to warrant the long drive there. They also leave at ungodly hours or arrive at the destimation very late at night. It's worthwhile considering if you have a whole family as the savings can be quite good on the whole, but for one person only, it's not worth the trouble.

Hi,

I have used it once, it was second time on a budget airline (the first was Monarch which I would avoid at all costs!!).

We flew from the UK to Italy, the trip was ok but personally I would prefer not to use a budget airline if the flight was going to be more than 2 hours. I can say that Ryan air was not as cramped as Monarch but the saying you get what you pay for is very true.

I've used them on a number of occasions and generally they've been fine. However in early 06 I was due to fly with them on three occasions. Only one flight wasn't cancelled. I suspect that in the off season if the plane's not full, it's cheaper for them to cancel the flight than have it fly. Very frustrating. And causes chaos...

I personally would NEVER use Ryanair, for the following reasons:

1) If there are ANY irregular ops, the airline will NOT help you, they'll just say, "tough luck." I'd rather pay just a little more and know that the airline will put me on the next flight.

2) The time and money it takes to go from most airports to the cities they purportedly serve negate any perceived "savings" over the competition.

3) I don't support a business where it's owner or managing member overtly states that they will not abide by binding statutory law. There are passenger rights in the EU that Ryanair openly flauts, and one of these days it will bite them in the ****. Until then, I will not be a patron.

I used them from frankfurt to london and you get what you paid for. The seats are not the most comfortable neither is space. My only problem was the locations. I missed my plane in frankfurt because the airport was like an hour and half from frankfurt. It wasn't even in frankfurt. And the one in london stansted made me also missed my flight in heathrow. So if you have connecting flights plan ahead and don't book last minute with a couple of hours for connecting flights.
