I prefer Air Tahiti Nui, but AF is very good. they have new seats, comfy but not much room. The food in general is ok, nothing special.
A nice touch: the flight atendants change their regular uniforms for a "Tahitian" dress.Very colorful and interesting.

the best thing is that they are members of SkyTeam, so you can get a lot of mileage and use it on other airlines like, Continental,northwest,Delta,KLM,Alitalia... Air,etc.

Try Air Tahiti Nui... It is a french airline, but they are coming from Tahiti... Paradise... I have flown to Paris for the past 10 years and prefer them hands down to Air France... Good luck...

just to answer the first lady in the list. Air France is the owner of KLM and not the opposite.
Air France has been named best airline in the world for 2006. as well as best alliance.
Air France used to be crap when it was 100pct state owned. now it is different, as business is business. Usually good food, and the staff (PNC and Crew) are very professional, which is the most important thing to keep in mind. Of course you cannot say Aiur France is good or poor, it really also depends on the crew you have when you are flying, but i suppose that is the same when you fly with another airline.
Now, regarding Tahiti, they use a 747 still with the old configuration, so can be better. Air Tahiti NUI is using a 340 which is maximum 4 years old, and not too bad, so for this journey you might want to see with them.

I haven't flown with them, and my thoughts mostly involve food and sex. All airlines are basically the same I reckon, except I suppose Air France has French stewardesses instead of, say Russian ones like Aeroflot or British ones like B.A.

Now owned by KLM so should be a good standard

I have, though it had less trimmings than BA on that flight, the food was much better even so I was looking forward to that bacon butty on the shuttle bus :)
