Think it also depends on the airline. Couple of months ago I was over the 20kg limit with BA and got away with it, but my friend came up from Birmingham with BMI this week with a case of 23kg and she was charged excess baggage! |

Budget airlines are more likely to be strict on the weight limit because they make extra money out of charging you for the excess. |

I've found that the last year they are sticking to the weight limit no give at all, best to buy a fishing scale they are very accurate, spend £5 now save £30 at the airport, |

Depends on who you are flying with, budget airlines are really strict and do not allow you to share your allowance between luggage, even with children, check their website though. If you were just under 21 you would get away with it as they can't charge for part kilo's if that helps? |

Whn I travel, usually have more than 27Kg in suitcase, no word is ever said.
Brits should fly to have 2 piece system also
And dont let the airlines make money with our cash
Just see the American 2 piece system |

Luggage allowance is a big money earner for airlines.. and a down right scandal |

they are quite strict, but they might let you away with 1 kilo, try it anyway and say nothing, just act dumb and say you didn't realise. |

Depends on the airline and on the person checking you in, sometimes they just let it go others they charge you but if it's only 1 kilo you should be fine |

I've travelled with Thomas Cook, First Choice, Thomson's and Singapore Airlines from the UK and my luggage has always been at least 2 kilo's over and I've never had to pay extra once, you will be fine with your luggage, I think they are more apt to have you pay if your 5 kilos or above over, have a great trip. |

It depends on the airline for example easy jet are very strict but British airways are not. |

you actually have available 25k.
take 1k out of suitcase & put it in ur hand baggage, which can be a total of 5k.
Suitcase 20k
hand luggage 5k |

It seems to be totally random. I flew 3 weeks ago - one case weighed 28k and a second 22k and they didn't say a thing (BMIBaby by the way). On the other hand there were 4 of us in the party - 2 children, and only 2 cases. I know that you are not supposed to be able to combine the weight allowance, but maybe thats why I got lef off? |

It depends who you fly with - if its one of the big carriers like BA or Virgin then they are very strict but if its somelike Easyjet then you'll probably get away with it.
Anyway if you are only a kilo over you can always take out a few bits and just stick them in your hand luggage. |
