I fly international alot. The best way to get good airfares is to check the individual airlines often, at least once a week. They often have sales for a short time, less than week, but you can get some great ticket prices if you will spend the extra time working on it. Check the links below and watch them. I live on the west coast, so my best flight may be different than yours. Sorry. I hope you have a nice trip. |

This website allows you to search all the airlines and all the major booking sites at the same time. This will give you the lowest flights available for any date. But once you find the lowest fare, go to the airline's website and book directly. Most travel booking websites charge a $5 surcharge.
Special note on "inexpensive airfares"
To get the cheapest fares, you must:
- Be flexible on your dates - Friday, Sunday and Mondays are the busiest travel days and thus the most expensive. The rest of the week is cheaper most of the time.
- Fly early or late evening. The first and last flights of the day are usually the least crowded and thus the cheapest.
- If at all possible, fly from major airports. Small airports are automatically going to be more expensive because of market monopolization. Most small airports only have 1 or 2 airlines so the airlines can charge you up the *** and there's nothing you can do about it. Flying between major airports means that there are many airline choices and thus competitive fares.
- Book as early as possible. Your best advance fares are going to be 21 days out. During peak travel times like summer, holidays and spring break, fares go up at 14 days, 7 days and every day up to departure. During non peak times, fares go up based on demand. So it is possible and I’ve done it many times, in fact just yesterday, to buy your ticket 1 or two days before your departure for a reasonable price. |
