I don't think the airline cares, and there are really no rules on that. It depends on the individual situation and what your doctor says. |

I am almost 100% sure that they can fly. My Uncle has had 7 strokes. He can barely speak, walks using a zimmer frame and He flew home to us from London on his own on many occasions with the help from nobody but the flight staff. His most recent stroke was 5 months ago. My friend also had 4 mini strokes and was flying 4 weeks later from Ireland to Cuba. There wasn't a problem then either. |

If you are well and fully recovered then there is no reason why not, but if you have just had one and are still hospitalised, then like any patient, it would be very unlikely that you would be allowed to fly.
Also as the is much thinner at higher altitude, the stroke patient (if still poorly) may be at further risk of suffering another stroke whilst flying.
Check with your airline carrier, and more importantly, check your insurance just in case |

Yes, a stroke victim is allowed to travel by airplane. If they are fulling capable of taking care of themselves - feeding, bathroom, medication, etc. - they may travel alone. If they are not able to do those things, they must be accompanied by a caregiver. If they are still having difficulty walking long distances, make sure you make arrangements for wheelchair assistance at all points. If they are on medication, have them make a list of the medicines and each dosage and keep it on their person. |

They would be best to check with their doctor first to make sure they are fit to fly.
The airline may require proof form the doctor.
All travel insurance companies will require proof before they provide cover, and you should never travel abroad without insurance. An EHIC ( new E111 ) card will not cover. |
