Depends. The closer you book to your chosen travel date, the more likely it is that prices will haven risen relative to earlier prices. Having said that, where companies have block-booked tickets(eg for package holidays), they may be tempted to drop prices at the last minute if they have been left with a substantial amount of unsold seats. So, it tends to vary depending on the type of airline ticket you're buying.

There is already a lot of competition in air travel and I think we have seen ticket prices as low as they are going to go. Airline ticket prices will most likely increase, with inflation, rising fuel costs and government intervention to discourage air travel for environmental reasons.

Prices fluxgate yes, however upcoming no it is high season and the holidays these rates will only increase. No last min. deals to be had.

The airline industry is changing so drastically most don't even realize it. It isn't just about gas prices either. So many think "Gas has gone down, so now will tickets". Sorry, but that is wrong. These domestic airlines are trying to get themselves out of bankruptcy and they are not doing standby anymore or last min. discount tickets. They are going to start rewarding those for booking in advance instead of those who wait last min.

They used to do last min. stuff, but too many people waited for this thus getting them in trouble financially. They are over the entire world and all domestic airlines are running fewer flights. Destinations where they used to have 8 flights a day with one carrier now only have 2 or 3. There used to be a lot more daily flights to Vegas with any number of airlines, several aren't either running as many flights or with cities that offer charter flights they aren't going daily all the time as they did in the past.

All Domestic airlines, EXCEPT American Airlines are in Bankruptcy status. They need to do something to change this, and they are. It will take a lot of time yes. Travelers in order to get decent pricing you will just eventually have to change with the travel industry and get it out of your mindset that last min. is better. That is going to be a thing of the past.

Everyday I hear people saying "That's to expensive, 5 years ago I paid this". Ok that was 5 years ago.....everything else goes up in price why is it so hard to believe that travel is as well?

So book in advance........it will be in your best interest both availability and price wise.

Yes. The airline ticket prices will go down, due to competition. Earlier the airline companies were more focused on Profits whereas after many new airlines coming up in the industry, with lesser rates, the bosses of airlines industry are now facing a stiff competition with these new ones.

Now the situation is such that the airline industry looks for masses so that they can cut down on prices and ensure that the flight capacity is full.

Besides, the airline industry are joining hands with each other to make sure that incase there are a couple of seats vacant, the other airline company gives away the customers with a minimum profit.
