No, but there are restrictions for size. They usually have a metal basket of the allotted size and they make you put your bag in to see if it fits. Most times, my airlines don't make me do that, but some might, so just in case, you should make sure. The sizes are pretty standard, but they are larger if you are traveling in a higher class, and exact specifications should be on your airline's website. Good luck!

sometimes, yes....on one airline I can think of, not supposed to weigh >8kg/piece (and you can ONLY take one piece).

They do have weight resistions for carry on, but it is a self in-forces policy. Meaning it is up to the traveller to keep below the limit. If the airlines thinks it exceeds the weight they have the right to weight the luggage and charge you extra, if over. This happens only rarely, as is very time consuming for the airlines.

No-its usually a size restriction, eg only laptop size

this is me
no usually but you can;'t have a very large bag otherwise it won't fit in the overhead,

No. However, there is a specified size for handcarried luggage. Although most airlines follow the same size, it's better to check your specific airline for their specified specs.

Just a tip, make sure your carry on is not to heavy for you in case you have multiple stops. Some airport terminals are in separate bldgs. and if you have to contend with time, a heavy handcarry could pose a problem.

Good luck and enjoy your trip.

all about size keep it small

no, you can have one purse and another bag. The other bag can be a small rolling suitcase (I think 21 inches?), but as long as there are no liquids you neglect to show or if they are in containers larger than 3 oz, you should be fine. I usually take a backpack and a rolling suitcase with me on international and I have never had a problem. (I have traveled overseas semi-recently (last summer), so this isn't super outdated info) Mine tend more to the heavy side also
