You never have to take your socks off. Sometimes they say you have to take your shoes off, sometimes they just "strongly recommend" that you do. If you're wearing sneakers or other shoes without metal then they usually won't have a problem with you not taking them off. But if you're wearing dress shoes or anything with metal then it's almost certain you will set the metal detector off so it's probably best to take them off. |

You can leave certian types of shoes on, like open sandals or even those ballet type shoes that are popular now. Sock can saty on. |

to go through security they usually recommend you take off your shoes in case there's metal in them that would trip the sensor. If you're actually being seached by security personel they might ask you to remove the socks, but they might not. |
