I prefer BA.
Virgin used to be great, innovative and fun service. Not anymore.
Here are some opinions about BA and Virgin ( from skytrax)

LHR to MIA and return World Traveller Plus both ways. Cannot recommend too highly in terms of comfort and value for money. Very spacious cabin, and generous in both seat pitch and seat width. Flight attendants very pleasant and helpful, food excellent, didn't personally mind the old-style entertainment, but then I prefer a book. I would definitely not cross the Atlantic again in economy class after this excellent experience, even though for me it means an extra journey leg from Birmingham to London. I would have to be paid or unconscious to use the Continental flights on 757s out of Birmingham - the 757s are much too small for transatlantic flights. If you are considering these WT+ seats, monitor the prices on the BA website on a regular basis over a period of weeks if you can; the prices for our seats ranged from £600 to £1200 return per seat over about a month, going up and down and up again several times. We could afford the former price but not the latter! At that former price, this must have been the bargain of the decade.

London to Hong Kong in Premium Economy. Expected the marketing to match the service, but disappointed. The seat was great and cabin quality good. However the staff were unfriendly. We felt very much like economy passengers in larger seats. Much of the inflight films etc, didn't work properly. Having flown premium economy with other airlines, I won't be flying Virgin again.

LHR-SFO WT+ return. On both outbound and inbound flights the flight attendants were efficient and the vege lacto meals were superb on both sectors. Worth the extra money alone for the extra leg room. Also benefit of being served before the WT section. Check in online and fast bag drop were also excellent. The only downside is that BA do not have VOD which if in place would have made the journey even better!

LAX-LHR. Flown Virgin Atlantic many many times and this was one of the best. The crew were attentive, plenty of orange juice and water. Crew had drinks set up in the back galley enabling me to get out and stretch my legs and have a small walk around the cabin. New A340-600 has new economy seats which have more padding and comfort with the controls for the excellent IFE on the seat in front. New seats now recline and slide forward providing excellent lumbar support for sleep. Overall a great flight - hope to see those new seats next time I fly.

In the back of the plane both have same seat pitch so equally less room So go for the cheapest both professional and reliable |

BA are usually good on price and cabin service, Virgin are usually good on price but very bad on cabin crew attitude. Once Virgin have your money they have no interest in your "in-flight experience" |

Depends where your travelling to.
Apparantly on Virgin's service is better on their US flights.
If your travelling to the states then Virgin, if your travelling to far east etc, then try the asian carriers or Qantas. |

Virgin, best service, choices, it is a shame that they don't fly to more places...
B.A. are still clinging onto a name that is like an old dinosaur, because they fly into more destinations, and thus more people use them, E = MC2 and all that, purely on persons flown by B.A., I guess they can say the are "The World's greatest airline", they have good staff on-board, but their Head Office Staff leave nothing to be desired!! |

I find most BA flight attendants to be total stroppy cows, so I would have to say Virgin's better, but only marginally so. |

Virgin is meant to be funkier - but I think BA although can be a less friendly are maybe more professional - virgin crew younger but like to chat to each other, BA keep themselves to themselves.
Flew with Richard Branson to Antigua a a few years ago and he personally helped passengers on board and said hello to everyone - great ambassador for his airline |

It has been about over 5 years since I flew with either of them, but it seems Virgin is the better one. |

I have only flown BA - they are OK, not the best but nice enough. Singapore airlines were extremely professional and efficient, and made me feel very welcome on their flight - and their girls look very smart indeed - smarter than the BA crew, I'm afraid! |

Virgin, anything with the word british in means high tax, cheap goods, bad service, foreign workers who dont speak english which equates to all kinds of safety issues, and rip off to end short!! |
