Baggage on Layovers?

I'm traveling from Pittsburgh to Las Vegas through Delta. I have a stop in Atlanta...will I need to get my luggage there or will it be transferred for me?

If it's the same carrier, or carriers that have an internline agreement, it will be transferred for you.

When they pull up your reservation on the comptuer, it will say in the side of their screen that you are going to Vegas. The bag tag that comes out will say "LAS" in big letters. MAKE SURE THEY PUT A TRANSFER TAG ON YOUR BAG!!

That ques the ramp agents to transfer your bag to the right airplane. They don't always read those destination tags because they see thousands per day. If the counter agent forgets to put that transfer tag, then chances are your bag will get lost along the way.

Don't worry, your baggage is checked and transferred with you to Las Vegas. There is no need to take your baggage out in Atlanta. When you're in Pittsburgh, check-in your baggage to Las Vegas. The airline desk clerk can help you.

It should be transferred automatically. Anytime there is a layover though you risk the chance of lost luggage.

private_jet_charter
You luggage will be automatically transfered to the next aircraft. When you check in at your first airport they will mark the baggage with tags as to your final destination and all the flight that you take to get there.

I bet it'll go all the way to Las Vegas. To be sure, ask when you check in at the Pittsburgh airport. Usually, when you check in, the reservation clerk will say something like, "Your baggage is checked through" whatever city.

Your bags should be transfered to your final destination. The baggage handlers will put your bags on your fist flight. When your fist flight arrives in your layover destination, they will take the bags off your first flight and put them on your final destination flight. They do it automatically.

If you didnt book 2 separate tickets (like Pitt to ATL and then ATL to Las vegas separately) your luggage should be transfered automatically.

when you check in your bags-- either curbside or at the counter --verify the check in tags attached have the airport code for Las Vegas.... that way you know they are going straight thru. ask whomever is putting on the tag to make sure its the code for lv. pick up your bags at baggage claim in lv.

a part of the tag is given to you so you can claim your bag when you pick it up....have fun!!
