Continental Airlines is by far the best airline. Also great for international travel too!!

Midwest Airlines is my favourite. The seats on the 717 aircraft are configured in a first class set up. The buy on board food from Mader's is excellent and worth the price paid. The chocolate chip cookies served warm on certain flights adds an extra special touch to the flight.

I just got off of a Midwest flight this past weekend and I enjoyed every bit of the flight.

jet blue or delta are wonderful!

The Airplane & PC Geek
United Airlines is very good. Beverages on all flights, food on longer flights, pillows, blankets, hubs in San Fransisco, LAX, Chicago, Washington, Denver
Continental is good too, with great international destinations in Europe. In-flight services are better than other airlines and nice people.

I like US Air and ATA. Delta and Northwest are okay too, though I haven't flown with them for awhile.

United, Frontier, Singapore (if you ever do fly Singapore in the US to somewhere else). In that order.

American Airlines, if you are travelling on Business (best service).

Continental if you are a student (best fares).

Delta if you are short of money (best price-value balance).

Midwest!!!!!! Every seat on their signature service is huge and leather. Free warm chocolate chip cookies. Best cookies I've ever tasted.(only on flights after 10am). If you fly Midwest you'll probably have to connect through Milwaukee, a great airport(Midwest virtually owns Milwaukee)

The cuter
Virgin Atlantic! I took their flights to and from London and absolutely will take them for now on. I can not speak for first class but coach has great leg room, beverages before your flight and during (sodas, coffee, juice, water alcohol(for a fee)), personal tvs with hundreds of latest movies, regular tv channels, tons of music, video games ( great for the kids) tv channels specifically for the kids as well. Food is tasty and plenty, flight attendants very attentive and nice. Just an overall fabulous flight both ways and something for everyone. You also get a goodie bag filled with pens, paper, squishy earplugs, eye mask, warm socks, and other little goodies. O and by far best price I have found and liked to go over to Europe, they also have local US flights too

Jet Blue is substantial for short flights as well.. like to vegas just an hour from me flying. but snacks are just a bag of chips or cookies never actually had a meal on their flights and foot room is crowded

If you are flying in coach, all of the airlines are going to be the same. Food, if they give it to you, is not going to be the high point of any flight, and you will be smashed in like sardines. Southwest is my least favorite because there are no pre-assigned seats--- if you think you know what cattle-call is, give THAT a try and see if it changes your opinion any!

JetBlue does have more comfortable seating, their inflight entertainment is great, their snackboxes are tasty but hardly a meal. They do not have a very extensive route network, though, so you might not be able to go wherever you want with them.

Midwest is very good for coach, just like JetBlue; the food is better but still not substantial. Just like JetBlue they do not go to many places, though, and they are being bought by one of the legacy carriers (I forget which one) in the next year or so, so look for their service to decline.

If you are paying for First Class out of your pocket, United is probably best. They still do hot-towel service, and the food is quite good. It is extremely expensive, though.

If you can reach frequent flier status and upgrade for free, I'd go with Continental or AA because it seems that they have the biggest inventory of upgrade seats. You need 25,000 flight miles (not credit card miles) at least to qualify for Elite status every calendar year and even then it is not guaranteed upgrades; you only get them when there are seats available. So if lots of people pay for First, or if there are other Frequent Fliers on the same flight who have a higher level of status than you, you're in the back of the plane.
