Travelocity?
Orbitz?
something else?

If you have experience with airlines, preferably several different ones so you have knowledge of the pros and cons, give me your recommendation!

The criterium:
1. Cheap as hell.

priceline.com is good if you dont care what time your flight lands or arrives
you can name your own price and they try to find airliens that will accept it..ive gotten tickets -400 cheaper than what contitnental was offering
Also, dont go on middle man websites, theyre usually more expensive than the airline's offer itself (sometimes not also..do some research)

This is how I book.... in september the flight from baton rouge to amsterdam is $1400 ... it keeps going down until it hits a peak in november for about $500..but if you try like a few weeks later the price will hike back up to $1400
I dont know if this will work for where youre going but ive tried this out and its worked 5 times and i get my ticket cheaper than most
Check airfares everyday they fluctuate
Also, dont travel on weekends or some weekdays..see if you can travel on different days (can save you a few hundred as well)
Annnnnnnnnd, try different airports than your local one. some airports are cheaper to fly from if you dont mind driving all the way to get to it.
Good luck!

I use all those sites to check out flight prices, times, availability but then I go to the airline site online and usually get it cheaper as you do not have to pay the service charge. Price is what I look for also.

I always start with expedia.. because most of my trips involve travel between non-US countries and they are able to handle that.

After I get the price off expedia, I check with the airlines directly, and other travel sites. Usually I buy the tickets through expedia, but sometimes it's cheaper elsewhere.

Kayak.com. It compares rates of hundreds of other sites and airlines all at the same time.

Linda is correct. Unless you are bundling some travel package, the airline website is the best place to get tickets. Usually you have an idea of what airlines fly in and out of your local airport. Also, if you need to make a change, you do not have to go through a third party.
