Bringing alcohol on a plane? |
Em 16 and Living in Ireland where the drinking age is 18.
I'm on holidays in France now...drinking age is 16.
Can I bring alcohol back with me in my suitcase to Ireland?
Or can you not bring drink back in your suitcase?
Can I buy alcohol in the off-duty in France and put it in my hand-luggage or will that be taken off me in Ireland when I arrive there since I'm underage?

Hello.
Unfortunately you can not buy alcohol at Irish Duty free unless you are 18.
I highly doubt they will stop you taking alcohol back with you because your underage at the destination, whether they remove the alchohol from you in Ireland, i don't know. There will be no problem taking alcohol back in your suitcase. I would just buy it anyway and take the chance.. |

Legally no, you are not allowed to have alcohol in Ireland at your age. If customs stop you and search your bags, they will confiscate the bottles and maybe give you a fine.
However, the risk is close to zero. You will be traveling within EU and pass through the "blue" channel at customs. They will not stop you for a search unless they have a very good reason for this.
Most often the customs is unmanned at the "blue channel".
I arrived from South Africa last week at Heathrow and had a serious amount of wine bottles with me. I walked the "red channel" and was prepared to pay duty. But even this was unmanned so the wine was duty-free :-) |

just go through the blue channel at Dublin airport, and you should not be approached by customs.
But if you are, they are entitled to take it from you, as it is illegal to be in possession of alcohol drinks in a public place, In the Republic. |

as you are 16 you can not bring drink back as when you get to customs here they may stop you and if they do they will take it of you and bin it.
