British Airways? More like London Airways? |
How can British Airways be known as the national airline of the United Kingdom now that it has sold virtually all of its operations from non-London airports to FlyBe. Other than a handful of services, British Airways almost exclusively operates to/from London airports with no services to/from any other UK airports. |

Good question, however a name change is a silly thing to ask of a company which has had years and years of promotion just because it doesn't service as much of Britan anymore. That would be like expecting QANTAS to change their name because they service all of Australia now, rather than just Queensland anc Northern Territory. Imagine if Coke changed their name. They would never again have the power and influence in the market that they currently do.
My experience on BA has been horrible and I will not fly them again (could just be the fact that my flight was at about 3am, but it was the worst flight I've ever been on). |

BA is *not* the flag carrier or "national" airline of the UK - it hasn't been since privatisation in 1987.
Whatever it is called, as long as I know which names to avoid, I'm happy. I prefer to fly on professional airlines that have service with a smile, rather than BA's "service with a snarl".
Remember - BA lose more bags than any other European airline; has one of the worst on-time records in Europe, and their "Executive" club is a joke, rewarding only the very, very, very frequent fliers rather than the loyal customer. |

As always, the rest of the UK is forgotten.
I'm form county Durham, and our airport, Durham Tees Valley was evacuated after they thought there was a bomb.
Didn't even meet the news, studio's are coincidentally, in London.
If that had been Heathrow, TV satations would have been everywhere.

Maybe because mostly international flights is based in London (LHR & LGW), the biggest hub of UK. Mostly of flag carriers do the same thing, having a hub for their international flights, then spread it to other destination inland. Don't forget that UK is not a big country in terms of area, so don't compare with what happen in USA or Canada. They have many connections through the world from their cities. I've been flown from Rome to Edinburgh via LHR with BA, and that was a nice flight, sure... |
