Buying Duty Free at Airports?

Can you buy duty free products at the airport after you've landed on the return flight?

No, you have only the two chances, at the airport of departure or on the flight. Once landed, you pay your duty.

averagebear
Even if you deplane at the gates where they have the shops, you need to show them a boarding pass. So I think the answer is no.

NO

country boy
no,, your last chance is on the flight home, before desent

cubalishus
No only on the way out and at the airport on your return journey before you get on your flight home.

I think it depends on the country you arrive in as I have found that when arriving home into Amsterdam from Singapore and travelling on to Edinburgh I am allowed to purchase duty free but at the EU price. On arrival in Edinburgh I am not allowed to buy anything.

Going in the other direction I can buy duty free at both Edinburgh and Amsterdam at a lower price because I am travelling outwith the EU. This is still however not as cheap as waiting until I arrive in Singapore where after passing through immigration there is a duty free shop fr arriving passengers. Here the prices are much cheaper than anywhere in the EU. You are not however allowed to take cigarettes into Singapore.

I hope this helps a littl bit towards a very complicated question.

So long as you're from a different country than where the airport duty-free is located, I'm pretty sure you can take advantage of the duty-free.

The reason you see it in domestic US terminals is because some international flights depart from there, so if you see a duty-free cart in OHare, if you're from the UK and heading back home to England, then you can use it because you have a ticket as well as a passport. If you're in the terminal as a US citizen heading to a US or international destination, then you're out of luck.

No. It is generally only for flights heading out of the country you are in.

Norway and Australia are the only 2 countries I am aware of that allow duty-free purchases after arrival. And in Norway, you'll definitely want to load up on your duty-frees, because once you leave the airport, it's all heavy-duty (lots and lots of tax on good stuff!).

sellatieeat
Yes you can but you can only buy duty free items if you are in an international terminal.. not a domestic terminal

yes as long as you are still inside the airport.
