I cant imagine them hiring someone that can't fit down the aisles. So, if you can fit, WITHOUT rubbing every seat as you walk by then sure...you can get hired. |

Bill

Apply anyways. Sue them if they say no based on your weight |

If you don't apply you will regret losing a great job. Because when flight attendants walk the aisle people cant be in the way anyway, and I have seen chubby flight attendants, and that's discrimination if they tell you, you are fat. |

I had an overweight attendant not too long ago- It did surprise me bc I thought there was a weight limit as well.... can not remember the airline...sorry. Go ahead and try! |

Nina

I think u should try, and if they don't let you in because of your weight you can sue them for discrimination. |
|

Mike
|
you have to fit up and down the cramped aisles |

as long as you're healthy you should be fine. meaning absolutley no complications or broken bones in the past, lost adult teeth, etc. |

|

Lulu

As long as you can fit into the isles, you be perfect, hun! It won't be a waste of time. Try it! |
|

Kaitlyn
 |
they shouldn't be able to discriminate over weight |
|

Ross
|
You have to fit into the tight spaces. |
|

Beau

Tom

I think anyone can be anything. |
|

Im awesome & that pisses you off
|
ive seen over weight flight attendants before.
if you want the job, then apply.
i feel if a person can perform all job duties without any problem 9like being able to walk down the aisles, lift things, help passengers ect.) then weight shouldnt be an issue. i actually think its discrimination. |

Kind of a sad question really. While it IS against the law to discriminate for a job based on a persons weight, the airline will no doubt do just that. The question that I want you to ask yourself is; Did YOU ever see a 5'8', 280 pound flight attendant? Good luck!! |

WEIGHT: There are NO weight standards at US airlines. You will only be visually assessed and the recruiter is looking for weight in proportion to height. |
|

Sexy Eyes
 |
you know what i heard you have to be fit to do that and also a certain height so just try to loose weight not for them but for your self if thats what you wanna be then do what you have to do good luck |
|

Dan

there are specific height and weight requirements. i believe you wouldn't be allowed. |

im not sure. i've never seen any. i'm pretty sure somebody from the biggest loser in australia was one when they were fat. |

Ryan

well, weight should never be a problem unless your a sprint runner or something. But your going to be on a plane helping people with their needs. anyone weight can do that.
however, these people will be seeing you for many hours. The sad truth is, most people think of what somebody looks on the outside as key.
If the airline company doesnt hire you, it's because they think of their image. Shallow bastards.
but dont take me wrong, i bet your one beautiful women, i just think most people give too much importance to looks.
good luck |

I've been a flight attendant for 11 years.
Rules do vary from airline to airline, but you have to be able to fit into the jump-seat without using a seat-belt extension. That is the only rule we have as far as weight is concerned.
Like someone else said, 'Try it'.
I do know of a woman who got the job and was most of the way through training for a commuter airline. She could not fit into the seat without an extension... Sadly they had to let her go.
We have some pretty large people working where I work... You just may fit.
Good luck. It is a great job. |

Weight must usually be in proportion to height; persons outside the normal range may not be qualified to act as flight attendants.
You are outside the normal range. |

No.
Most airlines have very strict rules about this. |

Grace

sure! u can. |

i don't see why not as long as you can fit through the aisles without a problem and if they don't hire you because of your weight that's discrimination. don't give up the opportunity even if all odds are against you because you could get lucky. when you go for your interview let your personality shine because if you have a good personality that will work in your advantage. the most important thing about being a flight attendant is being able to work well with people and care for the safety and happiness of others. good luck xD |

It's not too terribly fat for that height, but they probably wouldn't hire. All the flight attendants I ever heard about were fairly thin. (My guess). |
