Can I give someone else my plane ticket?

I won't be able to make the flight, but I have already purchased the plane ticket. Can I get the ticket transfered to someone elses name?

NO. Tickets are not transferrable. Depending who you purchased it from, if its a 3rd party like a travel website, you can not make any changes and should you not travel as booked you lose the money. If you bought it through the airline directly, you can take the value of the unused ticket to purchase another ticket, however you will be responsible for the change fees plus or minus the difference in the new fare. Most domestic change fee's are $50-$100 and International is $200, then you have to add the difference in the new fare, so you could double or even triple the cost of the original ticket.

IF you did purchase the ticket from the airline directly, you also have another option. Once you purchase a ticket, you have a year to use it from the date of purchase. Again, you will have to pay the change fee plus or minus the difference in the new far as well.

Most tickets are non-refundable, there are only a few fares in coach that are on most airlines. Re-read the fare rules on the receipt you printed out when you bought the ticket. If you bought it on a travel website, you will have to contact them to make changes. Especially websites like Priceline, Cheap Tickets, Hotwire, Cheap Seats, One Travel, 11th Hour, any of the auction websites or any other site that does not let you see what you are getting before you purchase, also called bulk consolidator websites, you usually have no recourse and the airlines CAN NOT and WILL NOT touch those tickets.

i think you can but may cost more money to do so or you can use at a latter date too but if u wanna give away can i have???

yes you can request from the airlines office or you can give it to me

Depending on type and class, I think most are nonrefundable & nontransferable. Call airline to be sure.

Contact the travel agency, airline, or the place you purchased your ticket from. Each agency has a different policy for name changing on a ticket and usually they will charge you a fee. Check and see if you can get a refund or a percentage of your money back.

Probably not. If you ticket is cheap, then it is definitely non-transferable. You may be able to use the value of the ticket towards a new ticket on the same airline for YOURSELF however. Usually you can rebook within a year and pay a service fee ranging from $50 to $200 depending on the airline. Remeber the new flight does not have to be the same as the original ticket. Also if you book a new flight and the new ticket is more expensive than the original you will have to pay the difference in the airfare.
