Can I take a plant from France to Britain? |
Is it allowed to pack a plant in with my luggage when I fly from France to Britain? I know there are strict rules as to what can and can't be brought into a country (no meat products, no fruit etc.) but I've found no mention of this on the airline's website. It just says no dangerous items such as poisons, firearms, aerosols etc. Thanks!

Leonard24seven - I asked for info, not a lecture, thank you. While I doubt I'd be responsible for causing some disasterous plant epidemic throughout Britain by transporting a tiny French house plant, I want to stay the right side of the law - that's why I asked the question in the first place. |

As said before you can't - unless it has a certificate issued by the French equivalent of the Dept of Ag. the plants that used to be on sale at Amsterdam Airport used to have these certificates as standard. With the high security at present I don't know if they are still on sale.....
I do know that someone brought a cutting of a geranium back in her handbag from a garden in France and it turned out to be really special. It is called "smuggler".
If I was you I wouldn't risk being caught. There is probably a huge fine. |

Most countries don't allow live plants to be transported across their borders. I'd check with Britian's department of state (or the UK equivalent). In the US it's the State Department. |

No, youre not. Unfortunately, you arent allowed to bring along anything from nature. You can tuck it away somehow though and probably be fine. The chances of them finding it are pretty slim. If they do find it theyll take it out and you wont have it when you get there. |

Hi! As long as you dont try and carry on board with your hand-luggage - they will arrest you or charge you £100 excess baggage .. Stuff it in you suitcase make sure its well wrapped.. and spray the inside of your case with Gucci perfume.. |

I don't think they let u bring a plant across the country.
but if u really wanna get them here is how:
bring the seed by keep them in you pocket if the seed is not to big ( after u got home soak the seed in the water for two day before plant them )
if u there is no seed u can try put the small plant in the luggege
