Yes, there's a very good Beechwood tree which is perfect for fitting into the permitted maximum dimensions for hand luggage.

I'm afraid not. I'm sure there are rules about bring back plants from other countries. It has to be regulated otherwise unwanted bugs, pathogens, etc could easily be brought back. Some plants I'm sure can be brought back. Best to contact HM Customs for what you can and can't bring back.

sanddancer
Dont be daft.

What kind of tree are you considering? I carried a shrub from Portugal without any problems.

agooddub
Of course you can ! I brought my entire garden on board the plane last year. I also brought the barbeque and 2 deck chairs and a trampoline.
When the hostess asked me if I wanted a drink I said a gin n tonic and a hose please, 'cause the grass needed watering in flight. I got stopped at customs on arrival at Disneyland, 'cause I had no passport for my two garden gnomes. They got angry and bit a customs sniffer poodle dog, so we all were refused entry and had to go home again.
So make sure you have photo ID for the tree, just in case.

You could book it a seat. I'm sure any airline would be happy to take your money.

it all depends on where you are traveling to. But most of the time you can't unless you have special permission. Be prepared for them to take it away from you on either side of your destinations.

Angelgirl
Depends where you are going? If you are coming to the UK then yes (They will let anything in) if you are going to somewhere like Australia then No.
