Can I take lip balm on an aeroplane? |
Well I am going to Barbados on Sunday from Gatwick airport, flying with Virgin Atlantic, and I have very sensitive lips sometimes.
I want to take my tin of Vaseline lip balm, the blue and white one, this one:

I'd say you can, but if you do get it confiscated you could buy one after you go through security if there are any pharmacies or shops.
You probably are allowed though!

Yes you can, any liquid under 100ml can be put into your hand luggage, but it must be in a re-sealable see through bag. |

As long as you have it in a clear plastic bag you will be fine. You can take pastes, liquids, etc through in up to 100ml bottles now, but you have to put them in a clear plastic bag & put this separate to your hand luggage when going through screening.
I had a Vaseline Lip Balm confiscated when this whole liquids fiasco started, but now you can take it through! |

The best thing to do is check on Gatwick airports website. Just Google it and check the 'security' section.
If you're really worried, you can buy a new lip balm from Boots in departures. As long as you keep the receipt you'll be fine - airport security only worry about liquids and creams etc if they're brought in from outside the airport. If you've bought it in the departure lounge, there's no way it could be tampered with. |
