Can Ryan Air cancel on the day of travel?

Can anyone tell me if Ryan Air cancel your flight on the day of your travel due to mechanical failure, can you claim compensation.

Yes they can but you are entitled to compensation.

Have a look here

Would you prefer to fly on an unsafe aeroplane? Of course they can cancel for a mechanical reason. They have to put you on the next available flight and, if it's not within a certain time period (depends on the country) they have to offer you "agreed compensation" and still get you there.

I would have thought that they would offer you another flight to the same destination at a later time. If they don't, read the terms and conditions in your boking information. If they reserve the right to cancel and/or change flights with no recompense, then I don't think you can claim compensation from them, but you might be able to on your travel insurance.

colettespurplecat
Yeah of course they can, they can do what they want! But if you've got travel insurance you can claim on that

Unfortunately , yes, I'm afraid once they have your money, you are at the mercy of any ailine! They seem to be a law unto themselves. I would imagine though that if they can't offer you an alternative flight, you should be entitled to compensation. However, I have to say, that if I thought the flight was being cancelled due to a mechanical problem, then I would far rather stay on the ground thanks!!

snetterton
You will be offered an alternative flight, if you are lucky.

Me again!

I'm sorry to say, but I believe that the airlines have all the power, and that we have no say in the matter.

I do believe there is some way that they may have to compensate you with.

but don't expect much.

don't expect much at all.

Hello,

(ANS) The answer is definitely YES!! Ryan Air do have the legal right to cancel a flight if a serious technical problem is found with the aircraft. You can even check this point if you consult the Ryan Air terms & conditions (the small print), its probably on their website.

Normally another aircraft would be found or chartered to replace the one with the failure, so some delay might be the outcome?

**You might only be able to claim compensation if the flight is delayed more than a set (specific) number of hours. I believe there is now an EU law that states compensation must be paid if the delay is 8hours or more?

However, getting your compensation out of Ryan Air might well be like trying to squeeze blood out of a stone. Even if you try. Good luck!!

Ivan
