only with permission from their parent or legal guardian |

I believe that you would have to go through your airline and fill out some paperwork and then they have to make sure that there is going to be someone on the other end of the flight to get this 13-14 year old. I hope this helps. |

the airlines should provide an escort if you tell them the circumstances |

It's safer for a guy to go to Vietnam. When I went, I had to go with my mom because it's too scary if you're a girl.
Hope this helps! |

that depends on the airline. Some airlines wont let minors go on a transpacific flight alone and some will. You should call the airline and ask them if they would let a minor travel on a transpacific alone. |

Children under the legal age may travel alone but only with the permission of the legal guardian or parent. Also, arrangements must be made with the airline prior to departure date. |

Sure, but you'll have to pay extra for an unaccompanied minor fee. Check the airlines requirements for that. |

If you are an American citizen, you will need a passport to do so. This is a minimum cost of around $100 and requires several documents and your parents signature. Right now there is a waiting list of about ten weeks to do so unless you expedite which costs another $60.
Here is an excerpt from the US State Dept about Vietnam...
ENTRY/EXIT REQUIREMENTS: A valid passport and Vietnamese visa are required. A visa must be obtained from a Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate prior to traveling to Vietnam; entry visas are not available upon arrival. Americans arriving without an appropriate Vietnamese visa will not be permitted to enter, and will be subject to immediate deportation. Vietnamese visas are usually valid for only one entry. Persons planning to leave Vietnam and re-enter from another country should be sure to obtain a visa allowing multiple entries. See our Foreign Entry Requirements brochure for more information on Vietnam and other countries. Visit the Embassy of Vietnam web site for the most current visa information.
Even while in possession of a valid visa, some travelers have been refused entry to Vietnam. U.S. citizens are cautioned that Vietnamese immigration regulations require foreigners entering Vietnam to undertake only the activity for which their visas were issued. Change of purpose of your visit, requires permission from the appropriate Vietnamese authority in advance. U.S. citizens whose stated purpose of travel was tourism, but who engaged in religious proselytizing have had religious materials confiscated and have been expelled from Vietnam. An American whose U.S. passport is lost or stolen in Vietnam must obtain both a replacement passport and a replacement Vietnamese visa. The U.S. Embassy and Consulate General can issue limited validity emergency replacement passports in as little as one day, but the Vietnamese government requires three working days, not to include the day of application, to issue a replacement visa. Neither the U.S. Embassy nor the Consulate General can expedite replacement Vietnamese visas.
Current information on visa and entry requirements may be obtained from the Vietnamese Embassy,
See http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_1060.html for the rest of the information. It will give you info about what is going on there right now. From what I can tell, you won't be able to get in the country without your parents helping you apply for everything. I'm not sure about how the airlines work with underage kids.
The short answer is that this isn't something you can just take off and do whether you are a child or an adult. You show up unannounced and someone from either government will be sending you home. |

How could she unless she can also fly the plane. |

In order to take a trip out of the country alone, you must have a certified letter from your parents (or legal guardian) stating that you have their permission to leave the country alone which you must carry with you at all times when flying.
Also, since 13/14 is still considered by the airline to be a minor, you'll have to follow the unaccompanied minors rules for the airlines (check with the airline you'll be flying for their specific rules and fees).
Good luck and happy travels! |

Yes, but the tickets must be bought by an adult. |

Yes, but they need a parent lettter saying they can and stuff
Also it would be veryyyyy broing and scary if it's the child's first time flying alone.
Are they confident enough to go alone?
sincne it's such a long ride, i suggest someone to go a long with him/her. |

Yes...well I think. You can go on a plane in the US to any other location, if you have the proper things with you. You have to have an adult sign you off at one end, and then at the other end you must have an adult with proper identification pick you up. I have done it many times before. I hope this helped! |
