yes, but it depends what airline. Some airlines you have to be an unacumpanied minor until your 16 years old. but on other airlines you can fly alone when your 12. when your an unacompanied minor, there is a flight attendent that takes you off the plane and off the plane. |

Different airlines have different rules, so contact the airline.
At the one I used to work for, which has since gone out of business, it was something like 0-5 couldn't fly alone, 6-14 could fly alone but you had to buy a special "Unaccompanied Minor" ticket, which cost extra because an airline employee was with them, and accountable for them, at all times. 15+ counted as just the same as an adult.
I think my first flight alone was when I was 13 or 14 - I was going St. Louis to Chicago to San Francisco, to visit my dad. What we did was my mom put me on the St. Louis to Chicago flight, and my dad flew to meet me in Chicago and we flew to San Francisco together. But on the way home I flew by myself. Keep in mind that by that time I had already flown with one or both parents over 100 times, because my dad worked for an airline and we could fly free. Of course, when I was 13 it was 1990, and things were maybe a little safer back then. |

Yeah, anyone over 5 can. |

Yes they can fly alone, but I believe that is a fee. |

Yes children can fly alone. If you contact the airline ahead of time they can have someone help your child navigate through the airport, make sure they get boarded, find their seat, make it to their connecting flight, etc. They will make sure to take good care of the child and ensure that they arrive safely. |

Many airlines will not allow an unaccompanied minor to travel internationally. For those that will, there are very specific rules. The first is that all connections must be with the same carrier and this does not include partner airlines. They usually can't be on the last direct flight of the day, can't be connecting with the last flight of the day, etc. This will ensure that they aren't stuck overnight. |

you can but you have to pay extra because minors under 17 need an escort or something of that sort |
|

lina

yes as long as it's a domestic flight best bet check with the airline (also some charge for unaccompanied minor fees) |

I flew to miami when I was 12. The airlines can make araingments to have the child ferried from gate to gate... I think it would be a good experience. |

you can if your parents fill a form out for you. I flew by myself when I was 14 but I don't know if the laws have changed or not. (I'm 20 now) |

Yes, but its best to go with someone because of the crazy people out there. |

I think 14 is plenty old enough to fly alone. |

This is a very dangerous thing to do. Are you going to meet someone with whom you have talked to on the internet? Seriously, think about what you are planning.
Before making any decision it is always best to take a few days to think about it. Talk it over with friends, with your parents, with a school counselor or even with your friends parents.
When discussing this with people who are close to you be completely honest and leave nothing out.
Don't take advice from people who say to get someone to pose as a parent so that you can board the plane, those people obviously haven't been alive long enough to know the dangers of doing that.
Be careful out there, the world is a cruel place and many "friendly" people out there are just waiting for the opportunity to take advantage of someone who is weaker than themselves.
If you decide to go ahead with this, enjoy the plane ride because it may be the last time that you will ever be heard from again.

Are you the parent oe the kid? Just curious....Some airlines will require you to have a paid airline "escort" ie you pay a fee and an ailrine employee will get you from gate to gate and then make sure you are picked up by a pre-arranged person. My step-son used to fly home to see his mother and she had to arrange all of that until he was 16 I think. I may have the ages wrong, but I know we had to do all of that til at least 13 or 14. |

yes, you can, but you have to have an adult sign for you. call your airline for details. |

I'm pretty sure you can. . . I have a nine/ten year old cousin who is flying to my place in PA from Kansas, so I wouldn't think they'd give a 14 year old a hard time bout riding by themselves. You might wanna check it out at the airport you start at, or even online.
~Good luck, hope it all works out for ya!!: ) |

You CAN fly alone, but you need your parents' consent. |
|

Michael T

you will have to be given to the stewardess at the gate and then she will watch you and someone will pick you up at the arrival gate. |

yes ive been travelling long distance since i was 12 like 4-5 times a year um u can ask an air hostess to tc of u and direct u its pretty easy though if ur a frequent flyer with ur parents and u know the protocol but the actual purchase of the ticket has to b from an adult so if ur plannin to run away like i did u better have the assisstance of an older sibling or friend. |

No they'll need an escort |

Yeah. I flew 520 miles alone on southwest, so i guess you can do it on other airlines. also i was not considered an unaccompanied minor. |
|

Marie
 |
yes i did it last year. you just have to let them know your child is a minor and they will take care of it |

You can't fly out of the country alone if you're underage. It's illegal. SOWWY! |
|

|
I doubt it, you need some supervision.
You could ask one of the random passangers to pretend they are your parent so you could sneak in.
But kids you hear about that go on planes alone, they usually sneak inside with other people. Yes, its hard so ask somebody to play for you (pretend). |

well yah i mean you can fly alone when i think its 9. |
