You can bring the cigarettes but you can't bring the lighter. put the lighter in something you're going to have checked. Sorry dude, I smoke too, and it sucks, but otherwise you have to buy another lighter wherever you land.

oh and by "checked" I mean NOT brought with you on the plane.

Cigarettes and lighters are fine to bring in your carry on baggage and cigarettes are also good to go in your check in baggage although lighters with fuel are not allowed in your check in bags. The ban on lighters was removed in August 2007, just no torch type lighters. I really doubt if there will be any issues regarding your age, most states have laws prohibiting the sale, but not possession of cigarettes by minors. Here's the TSA webpage regarding lighters:

Yeah you can as long as they are standard cigarettes the only other option you have is to buy them on the other side in the tax free shops or wait until you get to america and buy them there.

just put it in your carry on bag (not your pockets) they dont take the time to go through your entire carry on just for those cigs.

Easiest and most safe would be to have cigarettes and lighter in your checked luggage. You can have them in the carry-on, lighters are indeed allowed since one year back or so by the TSA. Rules have relaxed.

You can have have matches as well but only one pack. There's no guarantee that your carry on will not be searched. This is always a risk.

Another option would be to skip it all together and buy the cigarettes and a lighter when you arrive. The problem is of course that you're probably not allowed to buy cigarettes at your age, so I understand that you want them with you.

You cannot have a lighter in your checked baggage; you can bring it on you carry on.

However, this may not happen, but if there's an eagle-eyed/bored TSA agent who notices the cigarettes, then notices it's your bag, s/he may pull you aside and confiscate them.

I've travelled extensively, right up to last April overseas, and I've never had any problem with cigarettes or lighters. I just take one of those plastic Bic's in my carry on bag. No problem however I've never been to America, so can't tell you what they're like.

I fly all the time and I'm a smoker. Cigarettes are not a problem. You can put them in your carry on luggage and it won't be a problem as long as you don't have anything else in the pack. I'm pretty sure lighters are allowed on planes now as well. Just in case though, make sure you have one of those cheap plastic lighters and not a metal one like a Zippo. If you keep the lighter in your pocket when you go through the metal detector, it usually won't set off the alarm. I've never had a problem bringing a lighter on a plane, even when it was illegal. The only time I had any issues was in a European airport. I had two lighters on me, and they only allowed me to bring one on.

Yes

They just relaxed the rules to allow lighters. Personally I would just bring a pack of safety matches because that message is not universally enforced. The cigarettes are not a problem to bring

Read the regs for yourself from the TSA (take note of the carry on vs checked column). Note that you cannot bring a lighter in your checked bag

If you're trying to keep your smoking secret, though, I wouldn't try to sneak it through. You have to send everything in your pockets through the baggage screening and something like a lighter might prompt a search. I have also seen the foil in cigarette boxes/packs trigger searches in the security line as well.

Cigarettes ok, lighters not ok. But the security people WILL open the cigarette box and search it, so if you MUST bring it, put in in the bottom of your checked luggage, wrapped in a sock or something. And seriously? Smoking is illegal at your age, and just plain dumb.

lol AA plzzz
well keep them in your crack make sure you get a non metal lighter cause it'll go off and they'll strip search you or you can hide it deep in your butt crack don't go to thw bathroom though
