about 5-10 minutes before you take off, they ask you to put it away. while people are still loading, it's fine |

It should be off until you get to cruising altitude. They tell you that it can interfere with cockpit instruments, but I think everyone on the plane would need to have theirs on for that to happen. The real reason is that emergencies are most likely to happen while taking off and landing so they don't want you distracted by anything when they are trying to evacuate. There's been studies and people do take longer if they are listening to music, etc. |

During take off no electronic devices are permitted, as they all have the potential to interfere with the plane's equipment.
Better safe than sorry, considering that the most dangerous parts of a plane's journey are take off and landing... |

Yes. During boarding you should be allowed to listen to it- though [rarely] some cabin crew (depending on which airline) mak ask you to turn it off as you enter.
You will certainly have to turn it off for the security instructions (a cabin crew member will tell you to do so when they do final checks), and for take-off and landing. You should, however, be able to listen to it after the plane has reached cruising altitude. |

You are allowed to use your mp3 player while on the aircraft just not during takeoff and landings. The flight attendants will inform you when it is acceptable to use electronic devices. |

No, you cant. They tell you to turn off all electronics when the airplane door closes. The flight attendents will announce when you can turn it on again.
Your cell phone must be turned off the entire flight. |

Your supposed to turn off all electronic items before take off and before landing. They will let you know when its appropriate to use electronic items. |

i work as cabin crew for a major UK airline and i know you can listen to it only if the seat belt signs are not illuminated. |

You can only listen to it until the main cabin door is closed. At that point, you must turn it off for the safety briefing. You will be allowed to turn it on again at 10,000 feet when they approve you to listen to an approved list of electronics. |

Yes you can. You can listen to it while the plane is still at the gate and while taxiing out to the runway. However, the flight attendants will ask you to turn it off (before they sit down) prior to take off and not to turn it back on again until the plane has reached cruising altitude. |

I think you would have to ask the airline staff
I dont know much about MP3 players whether they do the same sort of thing as mobiles, but mobiles, even tho u cant hear it yourself, do damage to radio equipment... and there may be an issue there. Tho Im sure theyd recover it for someone to pick up for you if there were a crash, I would say its not worth the hassle...
Surely you can wait til you get where your going before you NEED to listen to it again... what? are u addicted to it or something?
Try some meaningful conversations with your fellow passengers.... you never know, you may meet the partner of your dreams!!
Have fun regardless...Life's for Living!!

NO! the flight attendance will tell you everything. Once the plane lands on 10,000 ft. then you can put your mp3 or your IPOD. Once the plane is landing on the ground you have to turn your electrical equipment off. |
